The cognizant team came to our campus for a pre-placement talk. After sharing information about roles and companies, they also interacted with students and answered their questions.

After that, our TNP cell shared a Superset platform link to apply for the company. Eligibility criteria are 60% or greater in X and XII, and the aggregate of diploma, UG, and PG should be greater than 60%.

NOTE: If you are already in the process of hiring the company, don’t apply to the same company again. Your recent application will be considered, and your old application will be canceled. (This happened to me, so I just mentioned it.)

After registration, within two weeks, a shortlisted candidate sheet is shared with us, and assessment dates are also announced by Cognizant.

Exam Pattern:

Round

Name

Time

Round 1 GenC

  • Verbal
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning (includes puzzles)

100 min round

Round 1 GenC Elevate

Aptitude and Coding Assessment

90 min round

Round 2

Communication Assessment

  • Reading and Grammar
  • Comprehension and Listening
  • Speaking

45 min round

Those students who clear Round 1 are qualified for Round 2. Both tests happened on the Mettl platform. I suggest practicing a previous year’s questions; from that, you will get an understanding of what types of questions are asked in the assessment.

Communication Assessment:

  • In the first section, you have to read the sentence and record it within the time allotted. After that, you have to add appropriate words to a sentence.
  • In the second section, you have to listen to audio, and after listening, you have to repeat the sentence you listened to and record it. After that, you have to listen to one paragraph, and based on the listening, you have to answer a few MCQ questions.
  • In the third section, you have to speak and record on a topic shown on an exam screen.

NOTE: You can listen to audio only once, so I suggest you sit for the exam in a quiet place and keep a pen and paper with you.

After this round, within a week, shortlisted candidates received a mail for an interview(GenC/GenC Elevate). There would be only one interview that included technical and HR rounds. The interview will happen on the superset platform. You have to log in to your Superset account during the given interview timeslot, and you will receive an invitation to join the call. I suggest you prepare your resume well and also complete each section of the Superset profile. Based on that, the majority of interview questions will be asked by the interviewer. Otherwise, it depends on your luck.

For me, an interview starts with formal greetings. After that, the interviewer asked me to introduce myself.

  • The interviewer listened to my whole introduction carefully, and after that, he asked me about the certifications that I mentioned in the introduction.
  • After answering that question, he asked me about ERP (enterprise resource planning). This question is related to my certification.
  • How much will you rate yourself in Java out of 10?
  • Tell me about your internships.
  • Tell me about ‘Salesforce Shaolin’.
  • How did you learn Python?
  • Java is platform-independent or dependent?
  • Tell me about Java Swing.
  • What is Canva?
  • On which technologies do you want to work?
  • Asked me about the location preference.
  • Are you open to working the night shift?
  • Any Questions? (I suggest you ask any relevant questions to the interviewer.)

My interview lasted for around 27 minutes. This is my second interview, and I have worked on the mistakes that I made in my first interview and tried to not do that in this interview.

After two weeks, when I was sitting in my hostel room, we got a selection list message from Cognizant in our TNP group. And my name was also there on a list????.

After seeing the whole placement season, I want to share some lessons that I learned:

  • Communicate with confidence during the interview.
  • Never compare yourself with others.
  • If you know the answer to the question, explain it in detail. And if you don’t know about it, then don’t give false information.
  • Be positive and believe in yourself.
