Chubb visited my college Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in July 2023. The profile offered was that of Software Engineering Trainee Intern. The selection process took place in 3 formal stages.

1. HackerRank Coding Test:
There were a total of 5 questions, 2 in the easy category, 2 in the medium, and 1 in the hard. I managed to solve 3.5 questions and cleared this round. Easy questions were of arrays and hashmaps, the medium was about parsing and the hard question was of graphs/DP.

2. L1 interview:
This round was for 30 minutes.

I made it clear that my field of interest was ML. So I was questioned about that.

  • Logistic vs. Linear regression
  • How would you classify using linear regression(ordinal regression)
  • Boosting and Bagging
  • Handling a skewed dataset for classification(Over sampling and under-sampling)
  • Prevention of Overfitting techniques(Lasso and Ridge regularization)
  • Explain both L1 and L2 regularization
  • Drawbacks of Linear Regression
  • Metrics to determine the accuracy/efficiency of the classification model and which one should be used when

Then I was asked to share my screen. 1 DSA question involving arrays and hashmaps was asked. Then I was given 3 tables and had to write 1 SQL query. Then I was asked about DBMS.

  • SQL vs NoSQL
  • Normalization and its types
  • Types of keys and the differences between them

and finally OS:

  • Process synchronization: semaphore and mutex
  • Deadlocks: conditions and prevention

I managed to answer almost all question except a few from ML. I proceeded to the next round.

L2 interview:
This was purely based on the projects which I had mentioned. I was asked about CNNs because I had a project on computer vision and image processing. I was also asked about external and internal parameters/predictors for a data science project. I was also asked about the role i played in a full stack project and what tech stacks I used and why. This round lasted for 20 minutes

Discussion with the CEO of CBSI:

5 students were given the opportunity to interact with the CEO of Chubb. He was very amicable and asked me about my projects, I explained to him my most recent project and he seemed satisfied. It lasted for 8 minutes exactly.

Finally, I was offered the position of Technology Intern at Hyderabad.

I wrote this blog to give back to the community. I hope that dear reader, you found this helpful!:D

Keep faith in yourself, you will do great!
