BPPIMT Kolkata Campus Experience

My engineering journey began in 2022 at B P Poddar Institute of Management & Technology (BPPIMT) in Kolkata, India, where I am pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. My college experience thus far has been filled with a plethora of experiences, enjoyments, and various ups and downs at different stages.

About the Campus:

BPPIMT boasts two campuses in Kolkata, one at Salt Lake and another known as the VIP campus located near Haldiram, close to Kolkata Airport. I am from the VIP campus, where B.Tech and MCA courses are offered, while the Salt Lake campus caters to BBA and BCA programs. The campus amenities include a central library, two auditoriums – one large enough to accommodate all students across branches, two canteens, and gardens. Notably, the institution takes pride in being a ragging-free campus in Kolkata.

Experience of my 1st-year:

Initially, my college journey commenced online due to post-COVID effects, but soon offline classes commenced from the first semester itself. Despite the online mode initially, I found opportunities to learn new things every day, primarily exploring topics related to my curriculum. The faculty members were extremely supportive, cooperative, and adept at simplifying even the most complex subjects. Regular lab sessions emphasized practical knowledge alongside theoretical classes, with quizzes and doubt-clearing sessions ensuring thorough understanding of concepts.

Experience of my 2nd-year (on-going):

The second year has been nothing short of fantastic. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends and actively participated in numerous contests, workshops, and other extracurricular activities.

Academics:

BPPIMT offers a variety of courses including B.Tech, BBA, BCA, and M.Tech. I secured admission to this esteemed institution through my WBJEE rank (8k), although JEE Main ranks are also accepted for B.Tech admissions. Prospective students aiming for admission through WBJEE should target a rank around 15k, while specific rank requirements for JEE Main admissions may vary.

Hostel Facility:

Although I do not reside in the hostel, according to feedback from friends, the hostel conditions are satisfactory. With disciplined wardens and reasonable fees, the hostel provides a conducive living environment for students.

Conclusion:

Looking ahead, I anticipate that the remaining two years at the campus will be as fascinating, thrilling, and joyful as the previous year. Overall, BPPIMT has proven to be an institution conducive to both skill and career development, renowned for its excellent placements, knowledgeable faculty, and secure location near Kolkata Airport. My admission through WBJEE with a rank around 7k from the general quota further solidifies my belief in the institution’s excellence.
