Sister Nivedita University (SNU) Kolkata Campus Experience

Introduction –

I will explain my experience with the Sister Nivedita University (SNU) Kolkata campus thoroughly, covering all the necessary points students might want to know before taking admission into this college. It is the newest member of the “Techno India” family.

About the College

Sister Nivedita University (SNU), Kolkata, was established in 2017. It is an autonomous college that is part of the renowned “Techno India” Group and a nascent TIG member. SNU offers Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate courses in various streams like Technology, Management, Nursing, Health Sciences, Journalism and Mass Communication, pharmacy, etc. In the Technology stream, they offer B.Tech in various other streams like Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Systems, IoT and Cyber Security with Blockchain Technology, Civil Engineering, Robotics, and Automation Engineering, etc.

Academics

As SNU is part of the “Techno India” group and an autonomous college, they don’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to academics. They provide all the courses in every department, whether it is Technology, Pharmacy, nursing, or management, that comply with the current industry needs. They structure the syllabus in such a way that it covers everything that is required by the companies. They also keep in mind the technologies or ways that are being used in the industry currently and structure the syllabus in that order so that the students can get a taste of the industry early on and face no obstacles while entering it after their graduation. SNU also accepts International Students and takes part in International Student Exchange programs, which means that those students who would like to pursue one semester of their current course from foreign universities can take part in this program and SNU will provide them the opportunity to study in any of the foreign universities which has tied up with SNU.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure at SNU is one of the best in the market. They have all the required laboratories for all the departments equipped with the new equipment, they have Electronics Laboratory, Communication Systems Laboratory, Virtual Instrumentation and Signal Processing Laboratory, Dynamics Laboratory, etc. Every department/stream that has practicals in its syllabus has its own laboratories. The university also offers the chance for students to pursue research, which might be beneficial for the students for their future. SNU also offers a huge library which has a variety of books in large numbers so that not a single student is left with no books. The campus is also equipped with High-Speed Wi-Fi so that the students can always opt for any online resource in any scenario.

SNU also has a Cafeteria (Melbourne Cafe) on campus, an advanced Kitchen for Hospital and Tourism practical classes, a Live studio for Media and Animation branches, a Virtual Reality Lab, a basketball ground, and a Moot Court for Law branch.

SNU also offers a Centre of Innovation, a Yoga Centre, a Taekwondo Cell, and a Start-up Village. SNU also provides its own bus service which can be used by the students.

Student Clubs and Societies

Apart from just academics, SNU encourages its students to follow their passion too and make a name for themselves using that. For this reason, there are multiple student clubs present in the University, which serve different purposes, each of them is created to encourage the students to express and hone their hidden talents alongside their academics. One student can be part of more than one club, there is no restriction on that. The clubs are the following –

Placement

Placement is the most vital factor of any university, and SNU is no different. As it is a part of the “Techno India” group, so all the companies which visit other Techno India colleges also visit SNU, so the students have a much more vast selection of companies to choose from, names like Capgemini, Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, IBM, Maventic, EY, Persistent Systems, etc hire students on campus. SNU also provides extra-rigorous training before the arrival of the placement season, so that the students might not face any problem while appearing for the placements and also give some hints about the rounds, how to tackle them, how to practice, where to practice etc.

Conclusion 

Sister Nivedita University Kolkata, being a nascent member of the Techno India Group doesn’t compromise an inch for the overall development of the students, be it in academics, or extracurricular activities. They provide a top-notch academic experience, alongside lets the students explore their hobbies and follow their passions. Considering everything SNU has to offer to a student, it must be one of the most preferred universities amongst the students.
