Hello everyone, hope you all are doing well. I am Arpon Kumar Chowdhury from Birla Institute of Technology (Batch 2019 to 2022). Recently I completed my Diploma Engineering in a specialization in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.

Birla Institute of Technology, Kolkata is a purely Government Institute.

  • Exams that need to be cleared to get admission at BIT for Diploma Engineering are:-
  1. JEXPO (Joint Entrance Exam for Polytechnics)
  2. VOCLET (Vocational Lateral Entry Test)

Firstly, you have to pass out the JEXPO or VOCLET entrance exam with a good score or rank. Based on your General Rank or Category Rank(if you have one), you will get admission into BIT, Kolkata.

  2. Electrical Engineering – 60 seats
  3. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering – 60 seats
  4. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering – 30 seats
  5. Packaging Technology – 30 seats

I vividly remember the day I sat for the JEXPO-2019 examination after the 10th, which would determine my fate as well shape my future. The examination was quite competitive, with thousands of aspiring candidates vying for a limited number of seats in the prestigious Government Institutes. Securing admission to BIT, one of the top-ranked Government Institutes, was my ultimate dream.

  • Criteria & Process of Admission:-
  1. The Candidate must have a 10th pass with an overall 35% mark from a recognized Board/Institution.
  2. Need to crack JEXPO with a good rank
  3. Need to enroll in the online counseling process conducted by WBSCTE
  4. Will get a seat based on the JEXPO rank
  5. After shortlisting, need to accept the seat with some “seat acceptance fees”
  6. Go to the mentioned college for document verification as well as admission & fulfill your dream.
  • Documents that are required during admission are as follows:-
  1. JEXPO Rank Card
  2. Class X admit or Date of Birth Proof
  3. Class X Marksheet & Certificate
  4. Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
  5. Category Certificate (if applicable)

Overall the admission experience for the Diploma in EIE was challenging but rewarding. It required preparation and dedication to excel in the entrance examination.
