Greetings Geeks!

In June 2023, Amazon WoW launched its CodeElevate program, an exciting opportunity for aspiring tech enthusiasts. Having registered for CodeElevate, I embarked on a journey that led to a thrilling internship opportunity. Here’s a recount of my experience:

Step 1 – Filling the Interest Form

Upon registering for CodeElevate, I received an email prompting me to fill out an interest form for Intern opportunities for Non-SDE roles at Amazon WoW. Without a second thought, I eagerly filled out the form because, well, it’s AMAZON!

Step 2 – Online Assessment

A few days later, I received a mail containing the online assessment details. The assessment comprised a coding problem—Coin Change (a dynamic programming problem)—and a series of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) focused on output-based questions and software testing.

Step 3 – Virtual Interviews

After successfully completing the online assessment, I received the much-anticipated email stating that I had been shortlisted for the Software Dev Engineer I-TEST role. The subsequent days involved applying for the role through the Amazon Jobs Portal and preparing for the upcoming virtual interviews.

Round 1

The first round commenced with introductions and behavioral questions. Then came the coding part, where I was asked to code live through a provided link. The questions included:

  • Detect a Cycle in Linked List: Solved using a two-pointer approach (fast and slow pointers).
  • Maximum Level Sum of a Binary Tree: Initially solved using level order traversal with an array; optimized for space upon request.
  • Further questions delved into my resume, wrapping up the round.

Round 2

The second round was entirely focused on Testing and included:

  • Writing code and test cases for a given scenario.
  • Discussing the testing process for a project.
  • Defining terms like white box testing and smoke testing.
  • Addressing questions about automated testing and how to code for automated testing scenarios.

The Culmination

A week later, the congratulatory email arrived—an exhilarating moment for me! I am now eagerly anticipating the commencement of my journey at Amazon in Bangalore, starting January 2024.
In conclusion, my Amazon SDET intern interview experience was a challenging yet rewarding journey. I look forward to contributing to Amazon’s dynamic work environment.
