Hey guys, if you are reading this you are probably looking for a summer intern at Wells Fargo, or in general any company in that way (because I honestly just wanted to get into any company, it didn’t really matter which one). Well, kudos to your determination.

I’ll give you guys a history of myself so you don’t get confused. I took PCMB in class 12th, then ended up taking ECE at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (kind of a big-shot college for engineering XD). So, technically my knowledge of computers is as minimal as you think it is, almost zero. With only the basic C programming taught in the 1st year of coursework, I ventured into the field of software roles in my third year of college.

The Screening Test

After a couple of rejections at the screening test level itself, my confidence was almost nil. Wells Fargo was the first company I cleared for the screening test. It consisted of 2 coding questions and a few logical reasoning questions. Although I could only solve 1 problem completely, due to my high score in the logical reason part and my timing compared to others to solve the coding round, I was shortlisted among 8 others for the interview.

The Interview

The interview was easy I would say, although the interviewer was quite grumpy, we didn’t vibe at all, to be honest. Since this was my first interview after a lot (I mean a ton) of rejections, I was too nervous to take this one. The interview initially started with some basic intro of myself, and then followed by some basic OOPS questions which even a kid can solve. The best part was the coding round, where he had just asked me to write the code of a binary sort algorithm, and to my surprise I was blank. like literally empty head. The interviewer had this look of how u made it to the interview without even knowing binary sort. After that mess-up, things just went downhill, the interviewer had decided I was out, and so did I.

My Advice

So, my only advice to you would be to be very clear with your basics, do not get nervous, no matter what. Not getting into a certain company is not the end of your career. The day of your interview will definitely be one of a kind, but be calm. I strongly believe my excitement was the sole reason I couldn’t make it to the HR round.
