Visa Interview Experience for Senior Data Engineer FTE

I got a referral for the Senior Data Engineer position at Visa from a connection on LinkedIn who is currently employed at the company. After a month, they scheduled interviews on Zoom.

Round 1: Technical Interview

This was around data-driven business solutions, Hadoop, scripting languages, and data visualization.

Questions:

• Explain a project where you created data-driven business solutions using Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
• Basic questions on Tableau.
• Have you used CI/CD and automation tools like Jenkins and Git in data engineering projects? Elaborate.

Round 2: Technical Interview

Questions:

• Can you program in scripting languages like Perl or Python? He gave me medium-level hashmap questions.
• How do you ensure Test-Driven Development in your data engineering projects?
• Describe your experience with Agile methodology in data engineering teams.

Overall, I had a negative experience. There was too much delay and I had to follow up multiple times with HR. Interviewers did not join scheduled calls on time.
