Ugam Solutions Interview Experience for Software Engineer (On-Campus) 2023

The company visited our college campus in the month of August to be eligible, you must be a student pursuing a BE/B.Tech degree in any branch. No branch-based criteria were applied. If you are from the non-circuit branch(mech/prod/civil) it is essential to possess an average understanding of programming languages .and a good understanding of the projects and certifications you have during your courses. Basically, prepare your CV well.

They started with a brief pre-placement talk about Ugam Solution, its future prospects, and related subjects that will be presented by the recruiter. The team also held some quizzes after the talk. The talk was more focused on how the company is about to grow multifolds in years to come. Following this presentation, you will have the opportunity to ask questions. It is highly encouraged to inquire about any aspect, whether it’s seeking clarification on a particular slide or understanding the company’s culture. This interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impression on the recruiter.

Round 1 (Aptitude Round): The aptitude test consists of 50 questions to be completed within 60 minutes. The questions encompass various areas:

  • Verbal Ability
  • Logical Reasoning (Number Series, Letter and Symbol Series)
  • Arithmetic Aptitude (Time and Work, Time and Distance, Height and Distance, Percentage, etc)
  • Data Interpretation ( focus on this as Que asked were around 20)
  • Fundamental Mathematics

To excel in this round, focus on key topics. Out of approximately 300 participants, around 95 successfully cleared this stage.

Round 2 (Group Discussion): Participants who have advanced are divided into groups of 10 for the Group Discussion (GD) round. After receiving a topic, a brief period of 2-5 minutes is allocated for preparation. It’s recommended to have a notebook and pen to jot down your thoughts, ensuring you cover both the positive and negative aspects of the topic. Starting or concluding the discussion is a pivotal strategy for success. Topics eg. (Role of Social Media influencers)

Round 3 (Personal Interview): The Personal Interview requires thorough preparation. Tailor your CV to reflect only the programming languages you are proficient in. The team interviewing had a vast experience in the Machine Learning domain so prepare all the ML-related projects thoroughly. They were not expecting us to know everything but the basics and clarity of what we have done in the projects. Effective communication is crucial, and consider structuring your answers to lead to potential follow-up questions. Common inquiries include:

  • Introduce yourself (mention your preferred coding language and end with a project reference)
  • Explain a project you’ve worked on
  • Detail your role in the project
  • Discuss challenges faced and their resolutions
  • Address internship-related experiences
  • Solve coding questions based on languages mentioned in your CV
  • Respond to technical questions
  • Prepare questions for the interviewer (focus on the company and its recent developments

I had mentioned many ML projects in my resume so most of the interview went in discussing ML-related concepts and some Python functions

The successful performance here paves the way for the HR round, with 15 participants advancing.

Round 4 (HR): Approach the HR interview professionally. Craft a concise and well-structured introduction that encompasses professional background and personal interests. Familiarize yourself with the company’s profile and have an understanding of its recent projects and leadership. Be prepared to address relocation possibilities. Conclude the interview by asking the HR about their journey.

Ultimately, 11 candidates progressed through the HR round, securing positions at Ugam Solution. This encapsulates my experience with Ugam Campus Placement.

Goodies were distributed among the selected candidates.

I was not among the selected ones after the HR round.

Overall it will be a very easy interview experience if you are decent with aptitude , good with communication skills , average with coding and very good with your projects understanding.

Finally, after few months of hiring the company paused their aggressive expansion plans and revoked offers of all the selected candidates leaving them with no offers suddenly.
