I had my NQT exam on 19th August 2022, and I got a mail from TCS telling me that I had cleared the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) and was shortlisted for the TCS NQT Interview with TCS. And then, I got a confirmation mail that I had been shortlisted for Ninja Interview.

Interview: I had my interview on 21st September 2022 at 3 pm for which I got the mail the night before it. The interview was conducted on the Talview platform. My interview started at 3:49 pm. It was a 1-to-1 interview that consists of MR+TR+HR questions. My Interview Duration was around an hour.
Now coming to my interview questions, the first question he asked was “Tell me about yourself”. Then he started asking some technical questions,

  • Tell me about the projects you have done and describe them.
  • You have mentioned three projects in your resume. So, tell me when, why, and how you created them. What difficulties did you face while creating them? and what technologies you used in them.
  • After looking at your project it is looking like you are comfortable with java and Web-Development is it right? (Just to confirm that the projects mentioned were created by me)
  • What is JDK? What are its uses?
  • What is JRE? What are its uses?
  • What is JVM? What are its uses?
  • Write a program to swap two numbers using an extra variable and without using it too. (In any language I want but in notepad)
  • What is OOPS?
  • What is encapsulation?
  • Do you hear about runtime polymorphism? Tell me something about it!
  • What are the differences between C and Java?
  • What is Static variable & Static block? What are its benefits?
  • Can we use instance variables inside Static methods/blocks?
  • What are constructors? Explain the different types of constructors.
  • What are Joins in SQL? Explain different types of Joins.

HR & MR Round :

  • Tell me about your family.
  • What you have researched About TCS?
  • Why TCS?
  • Why TCS should invest in you rather than the other candidates?
  • What do you prefer Work from home or Work from the office? Why?
  • As there is no TCS branch near your location, will you still want to continue with TCS? If yes then in which TCS branch will you want to work?
  • What if that branch is not available? If the Kochi and any south side branches are available will you join there?

That’s all about my interview. Now, I have a few suggestions for you all while appearing in the tech interviews, either TCS or any other company.

Overall Experience: The TCS NQT interview for the Ninja profile was a very basic one. So, work on your basics and be ready after you got shortlisted for the interview as the interview schedule will be shared with you the night before it. And most importantly you have to put all your attention into clearing the written exam mainly(NQT). If you have cleared the written examination, half of the battle you have already won.

Suggestions:

  • Be confident while giving your answers, as the interviewer may say “Are you sure?” to just check your confidence towards what you said.
  • Try to give some real-world examples of every question.
  • Always write correct information in your resume, as half of the interview will be from your resume only.
  • Always frame your answers with the words you know, there might be the chance that the next question will be that word.
  • Try to take the interview on your path, not where the interviewer is taking it.
  • If the interviewer is asking something that you don’t know and also it is not mentioned in your resume, just say to the interviewer that I know this much about this topic only that’s why I hadn’t mentioned it in my resume too.
  • Always prepare for the HR questions before the interview and do some research about the company of which you are giving the interview.
