Hello Geek,

If you are from a tier-3 college, just like me, you might have heard a lot about getting into MNCs like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and more relative companies. Today, I want to share the interview experience of one such company and also the first one that I joined  TCS.

To start with, I want to make it very clear that the company DID NOT  visit my college campus for the interview and the entire process was Off-campus. Secondly, the content you are going to read might influence you to take up an interview at TCS a little lightly. well no problem

Round 1: Coding

The first round as for all the companies and as it has become a kind of custom, is the coding round. Basically, the coding round was not application-based, but TCS’s own ultimate coding challenge– CodeVita. The participants who cracked the round were awarded to come to the hiring rounds.

Round 2: Hiring Round

In the second round, there was a panel of 3 experienced personalities each with a different expertise and viewpoint about a candidate. The first person asked a set of computer fundamental questions on Database joins, Network circuits, and IP addresses. It took about 15-20 mins of intense yet easy discussion on the computer fundamentals. Thanks to GFG’s GATE preparation material, I was preparing for GATE at that time which helped me a lot. Next, the second person took care of aptitude. The questions involved were basically of GATE-level aptitude accompanied by two puzzles. Puzzle #1: Cake cutting puzzle. Puzzle #2: Clock Angle puzzle. You can find the description and solution to both of these commonly asked puzzles in GFG. This took about 30 mins of my time. I would say it did not last longer was rather short due to the fact that I was able to answer aptitude questions in one go. Again, thanks to GFG’s GATE preparation material. Lastly, the third person was the one responsible for judging my maturity level as a professional. Basically, this was a behavioral round. The person asked some situation-based questions and teamwork-related questions. This lasted for about 15 mins and here I have to agree, the discussion was too good and fun to have.

In summary, this round lasted for about an hour (+-5-10 mins). The round was easy, with nothing to mention specifically.

After 10-15 days, I got an email from TCS informing me that I was selected.
