The interview at SISTEC Gandhinagar was not only very lengthy but it was very technical also. The HR department did not have lot of question except negotiation about the salary and perks. Although most of the questions were around the subject we were strong or they were academic interest. They were very much interested in programming as this college gives lot of emphasis on training students. So it consists of three rounds.

Round-1

This was a technical round. It was conducted online through Zoom meetings. It made it more difficult as the number of interviewers was 5. All of them were interested in checking different aspects of your resume. Almost all the topics written in the resume were discussed during this round. As they were interested in selecting someone who was strong in programming so they had given the choice of selecting 2 programming languages. I selected java and Python. Though it was a difficult decision I had managed to answer a lot of questions. Some of the questions during this round was about writing small programs. They also asked what optimization can be done on the code written. There was a question on cloud computing and data science. They also asked about my publications and training. My interview was for more than 1 hour and sitting in front of the computer for so long was a difficult situation for all of us.

Tips/Suggestions:

Do not leave any questions and try to answer all the questions. They are not just interested in your technical knowledge they are also interested in your communication skills.

Round-2:

The second round was a face-to-face interview with other employees of the department and management. Here I was asked to write a lot of programs. They also asked lot of question on computer architecture as I had mentioned them on my resume. It was not just an interview rather a discussion on different topics of computer architecture. There was again a panel and they wanted to check my ability to handle pressure situations. So most of the time they tried to pick up the topics that were not mentioned in my resume. I always gave the answer when I was confident about it otherwise I simply said that I don’t remember the answer,

Tip/Suggestions:

Keep yourself calm and answer if confident about the answer. Knowing less is not an issue but giving a wrong answer is an issue.

Round-3:

In 3rd round, we had a discussion about the salary and other perks. It was an online interview and the salary I had asked for was not accepted. So I tried to get other benefits like accommodation and transport facilities. Most of the time you will get rejected just because of your salary expectation. Try to negotiate with other benefits which they can provide along with salary.

Tip/suggestions:

Figure out the range of salary they are offering before making a demand. They may not even call you for a third round if the salary is not appropriate. Negotiation is not possible and most of the time they offer your a salary from their end.
