I Joined o9 Solutions as a Technical Consultant last year around this time after completing my graduation from NIT Raipur [Campus Placement] and since then things have changed a bit- you start making money, you start taking responsibility, you become more futuristic, you explore life more.

Work Front:

  • I first underwent a month-long training about the company’s platform and the work involved. Next, I was allocated a project as a Technical Consultant in the Client Success Department. [Knowledge Transfer Session] began and for almost 2 months as a beginner learned the project and work I needed to do. Started working on my own with the help (inputs) of my senior. With time I became somewhat independent but not fully.
  • At times he makes me realize, I am lagging behind and need to take responsibility and tackle problems on my own. But, when I did good work, I got appreciation from seniors & manager.
  • After working for 6 months my probation period got over and I became permanent, during that time my senior was on vacation and I handled the project alone. As a reward for good work, I received the Spot Award of the Month. I was really happy to receive it so early in my career. Hoping to work well and get more such awards.
  • Now, I have again received a new project, and a new challenge coming up and the cycle will repeat– KT sessions, scoldings from seniors for lagging, appreciation for good work, and this learning cycle is going to repeat itself.
  • I Work on SSIS, SQL, Airflow, and IBPL tools and did some of the project work on production, testing, and other allied works of the project like Client side communication, Handling Failures, Solving Tickets, Enhancements, and Changes.
  • Now, I am learning new tools & technologies like Hive, Hadoop, spark, Nifi, etc. to keep myself prepared for new opportunities as these tools hold potential in the near future.
  • We get new projects, new requirements come, so it becomes a necessity to match the level otherwise we will lag.
  • Also, it’s important to keep updating and widening our knowledge with time. Our life and career graph should go up and not become stagnant.

Benefits & Impacts:

  • Team outings, Team lunches, Fun fest, Events & Seminars, Social causes: Tree plantations, helping hands to the needy, etc. All of these activities play an important role in shaping us as human beings.
  • You meet people with different thinkingapproach & target;
  • In the office, you interact with your colleagues and get to know new things.
  • You bang new doors of information & knowledge through their experiences.
  • They teach you a lot, sometimes give you a reality check, and act as an eye-opener.

Life:

  • Sometimes not work during the day, but sometimes I had to be awake the whole night.
  • Sometimes weekdays feel like weekends, sometimes there are no weekends because of work. So, overall it’s quite a dynamic job.
  • Personally, my work is quite balanced- I can study books, listen to music, speak with my family & friends, watch youtube, go to the gym & for chai after coming from work.
  • Overall, it has been a good chapter of my life.

My Advice:

  • The first job is always special, and embracing its experience is important. Be mindful, open to inputs & have a learning attitude, keep updating your knowledge, never settle for less.
  • Most importantly enjoy the new life.
  • Wishing you the best for your new chapter.
