Landis+Gyr Interview Experience for Graduate Engineering Trainee

Landis+Gyr is a global provider of integrated energy management solutions for the utility sector. The company specializes in advanced metering technologies, grid management, and energy management solutions.

I had the opportunity to interview with Landis+Gyr for the position of Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET) through the FirstNaukri platform. Before starting the placement process, a pre-placement talk was conducted on the Zoom platform, discussing the role, culture, and opportunities. The hiring process consisted of three rounds, and the opportunity was specifically designed for females only.

Round 1: Online Assessment

Firstly, the first round had a total of 45 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes to be completed online on the HackerRank platform without any negative marking. The questions were divided into several sections, including General Aptitude and Conceptual Knowledge, and covered a wide range of topics.

Round 2: Technical Interview

After a week, I received an invitation for a technical interview, which involved an in-depth discussion of the fundamentals of technical concepts. The interviewers covered a range of technical topics, such as:

  • Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA)
  • Database Management Systems (DBMS)
  • SQL queries
  • Basic Programming Concepts
  • Computer Networks

The interview covered a wide range of topics, including my technical knowledge as well as my project and internship experiences. I was given the opportunity to go into more detail about the technical challenges I faced, my role in the projects, and the solutions I implemented. The interviewer was interested in learning about my problem-solving approach and my coding abilities.

Round 3: HR Interview

My HR interview with Landis+Gayer was set up after a week of multiple follow-ups and emails. During this round of interviews, the focus was on determining how well I fit into the company culture and exploring my career objectives for the future. The HR interviewer wanted to know more about the following areas:

  • Expectations from the role and the company
  • My strength and weeklyness
  • short- and long-term goals
  • My five-year career goals
  • Reasons why I believe I should be hired
  • Willingness to relocate to Noida (UP)

After the HR interview, I waited for further communication but received no update despite several follow-up emails. Unfortunately, a month later, I received a rejection letter.

I am thankful for the opportunity to interview with the company, even though I received an unfavorable response. I established a great connection on LinkedIn with people who are already working there or have interviewed for the same position, and I was able to learn more about others’ experiences and receive lifelong guidance.

The problem I faced was communication delays on updates.
