Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Interview Experience For Patent Analyst Engineer (On-Campus)

The interview process at Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan began with an initial shortlisting based on academic criteria. Candidates with a consistent academic record of 80%+ throughout their graduation, 10th, and 12th grades were shortlisted. Approximately 75-80 candidates made it through this initial screening.

Round 1: [Written Test]

The first round consisted of a written test that assessed grammar skills. It included questions like rearranging words and fill-in-the-blanks. Additionally, candidates were required to choose one of four essay topics and write about it. The essay topics covered a range of subjects, including the positive and negative impacts of social media, government investments in global summits, government investments in space, and the impact of artificial intelligence.

Round 2: [Group Discussion]

Following the written test, candidates participated in a group discussion. Each panel consisted of 10-12 candidates, and each panel was assigned one of the essay topics from the previous round to discuss. This round aimed to evaluate candidates’ communication skills, teamwork, and their ability to express their thoughts coherently in a group setting.

After the group discussion, the company shortlisted around 26 students based on their performance.

After assessing the written test, 13 candidates were selected to move on to the personal interview round.

Round 3: [Personal Interview]

In the personal interview round, candidates were asked questions based on their resumes. The interviewers aimed to assess communication skills, learning abilities, and the candidate’s overall fit for the role. Some sample questions included:

1. What is a patent?
2. Questions related to the candidate’s interests and volunteer experiences.
3. Questions from 12th-grade physics topics like semiconductors, Newton’s Laws, and transformers.
4. Questions about specific skills or interests mentioned in the resume, such as AWS and machine learning.

During the interview, I candidly mentioned to the interviewer that the role didn’t align with my interests. Being more inclined towards technical roles, I decided not to proceed further with the interview at that time. However, upon reflection, I later realized that this might not have been the best decision.

Out of the 13 candidates who proceeded to the personal interview round, only 4 received job offers from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan.
