How to Install AV Linux

AV Linux is a Debian-based Linux distribution, mainly featured with tools for media creation, both audio and video. It provides high performance for media editions without much cost of resources. Like all other Debian-based distros, AV Linux also uses the apt package manager. The following section goes through the installation of this OS on a virtual machine.

Installing the AV Linux on VMware

Step 1: Download the ISO image of the OS from the following link:

Step 2: After installation, create a new virtual machine in VMware or any other virtualization software of your choice. If you’re using Microsoft Azure then, refer to this article to know how to create a VM. For, VMware, see the following steps.

1. Open VMware and press CTRL+N. A wizard will open, choose Typical and press next.

 

2. Now browse to the location of the downloaded ISO file and choose it as the ISO file for installing the operating system and press next.

 

3. Then click on Linux and select Other Linux 5.x kernel 64-bit and continue.

 

4. Now, provide a location for storing the OS and continue.

6. Allocate desired RAM but, a minimum of 2 GB is recommended. 

7. After finishing, play the virtual machine and follow the steps below.

Step 3: A screen as below would come. Press enter to the first option and the operating system will start installing. Now, sit back and let it install.

 

Step 4: Now, choose the option to install to HDD.

 

Step 5: After continuing, you would be asked if you wish to encrypt your data. Choose the option you prefer.

 

Step 6: You will be asked to format the entire disk, click yes and let the installation complete. During the installation, you will be asked to enter some credentials such as username and password, and the password for the root account. Keep continuing until the process ends. Once, the installation completes, you’ll get a screen like the following. Press finish and let the machine reboot.

 

Step 7: After the reboot, log in using the credentials that were entered in the previous step. Now, the AV Linux is completely installed in the VM and ready to be used.
