Greetings to everyone on this amazing platform. Let me introduce my college aka Central University first because of “Parampara, Pratishtha, Anushasan”.

Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as (established on 16 June 1983), is the only Central University in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. It is one of our largest and oldest institutions of higher education that was established under the Central Universities Act 2009. It can also be called as a mini town sharing its boundaries across 655 acres of the whole city. Apart from departmental buildings, it has an Auditorium, Cafeteria, Health centre, Guest house, Hostels, Sports complex and a Central Library as well. The rest of the research work on above mentioned details is available on Wikipedia, so I’m leaving it to you guys at your convenience.

Now, it’s my turn to introduce myself and my adventurous journey to GGU. I’m in 2nd year of my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and IT. I find my niche in the art room and in extra-co-curricular activities that I tend to outshine more than in academics. I loved the fact that I could create anything on a blank canvas with a bunch of colours at hand, tax my mind for just-minute debates or a game of dumb charades, or remember the longest dialogues while acting on stage. At first, I didn’t know why I was admitted here and that too in CS. It’s a tangled story, so let’s explore some knots of my experience over the year.

The Admission :

As usual, after my 12th boards got over in May, I started to think about the next. 2022 was the year when CUET came into existence in offline mode, and we were taking laboratory rats. After a lot of postponement, we managed to take the exam in PatraJuly. I thought that the examiner or the NTA as well were not willing to publish the result that year , but somehow they managed to do it till the end of September when one-third of my batchmates were giving their internal exams of their colleges. After getting our “pramaan patra”enrol, I was in dilemma of where to enroll! SinceScience I’m a homesick girl, I decided to choose the one near my hometown. Half-heartedly I did some investigation regarding the academics and ended up landing here. After applying for Chemistry and Computer science , with God’s graceThe , I did not see my name in the merit list of Chemistry.

The toDepartment of Computer Science And IT asked me for document verification in order to confirm my admission. I came to Bilaspur the couldnext morning. At first, I was shocked after seeing the campus road. I called one of my Bhaiyas to pick me up so that I can get admission on the same day. We entered to find my department and took a round of the whole campus. Suddenly , I saw an old and a single classroom building , wishing that “sirf ye meri class nah ho”. Again, because of my good deeds in my previous birth, my ‘ankahi khwahish’ got a green flag. And it’s over!!

Then the problem of accommodation made me to write up for hostel application. I got the seat in New hostel but due to some finishing works, we were asked to stay in the old hotel i.e. Rajmohini. I can cherish this day because I met my first roommate Bhavna. The only good thing happened was sharing not only my room but also my everyday talks , fun and nok-jhok with her.

First Day to Year :

After a week’s rest, our first class commenced. After listening to the wonderful and motivating speeches by our professors, they gave us an extraordinary surprise that “we are going to shift in the new building soon”. This brought ‘ Kranti Ki Lehar’. Since we started very late, our teachers decided to cover the entire ocean of syllabus in a handkerchief. Classes were not regular in the beginning. We were taught the topic names and rest was all ours. And we were not able to come out of our school habit’s shell of regular classes and daily homework that made us to put that energy in some other work i.e. exploring BSP. Whole class shows an unbreakable unity when it comes to bunk any class. Abhi to humne khud ko samajhnaa shuru hi kiya tha ki our semester exams came. And I don’t want to write much about that ,so called, golden phase. It’s all about ‘I passed the exam’.

Second semester was the time, when I came to know about various clubs and societies of our college. I applied according to my interest and gave the interview. Of course, I got selected in them. It was more about meeting new people with non-identical experiences and traversing through different arenas of learning. I can rate GGU ,as per my reach, as one of the best places to look into. GFG student club organised a meet-up for all the new team members and I too was one of them. And that was the day when I got to know why Engineers can do anything ( because they don’t have any distraction in their own classroom, not only classroom but in the whole building). There were as many girls as the cherry on cake. The count of ‘our prajaati’ was hardly 20 out of 120. Anyways, all the team members were very cooperative and helpful in nature. It was really an amazing episode.

Like all other college students, semester exams arrived. But this time I was confident. Our teachers had a great role in this. They had given cent percent to improve our results and so do us. I forgot to mention about our teachers. They are all very insightful especially our HOD sir. He always lend his helping hand for students. Again, it’s a small chunk of my experiences throughout the year.

To sum up :

I got the answers of many questions which I had in my mind initially. College is the perfect time to enjoy our imperfections and at the same time build the base of our upcoming years of life. Any stream in the subject of Computer science, according to my perspective, is a blessing and disguise for those who want to improve their technical as well as non-technical skills. Apart from the academic progress, I also felt that student inculcate a problem-solving approach. Instead of getting indulged in complaining about the problem, generally a CS student tries to find the optimised solution in real life as well. Our college welcomes all the young and gifted minds without any descrimination. People from all the cultures possessing their own talents are valued and are given a stage to take their stand. Graduation is not only about the exams or degrees, they are just milestones in our journey towards discovering the real potential and uniqueness in ourself.
