Guru Nanak Dev University, which was founded in 1969, is situated in Amritsar. The UGC acknowledges GNDU as a residential and affiliating university. The university is also given the designation of “University with Potential for Excellence” by the UGC and is accredited with a “A++” grade after receiving 3.85 out of a possible 4 points from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), making it the only university in India to do so. The NIRF rating placed GNDU at number 44 in the category “University” in 2022. The GNDU offers undergraduate, graduate, diploma, short-term, and certificate courses in a number of fields, including law, teaching and education, engineering, architecture and planning, IT and software, hospitality and travel, and many others.

Infrastructure

Guru Nanak Dev University has many noteworthy locations. The entire campus is covered in a variety of trees and flowers, and peacocks are frequently seen there. Within the premises, a separate Botanical Garden has been created; it contains a variety of plants and cacti. It also includes a special area created for ducks. GNDU offers a healthy mix between work and nature. There are numerous department buildings with distinctive architecture. The best library of its sort with unrestricted access to various books. There are amenities within the library include a digital lab and reading rooms that are even accessible on weekends.

Academics

Numerous courses and degrees are offered by Guru Nanak Dev University to students all around the world. Every department has facilities and qualified instructors to give students access to both practical and theoretical knowledge. The university successfully serves 20,000 students across many faculties on university campuses and in constituent colleges. The first institution in the region to provide online course registration, online state level admissions counselling, and a credit-based grading system was Guru Nanak Dev University. To improve efficiency and transparency, the OMR (Optical Magnetic Recognition) approach is being used, and all the results have been computerised. Again, this university was the first in the region to computerize its exam and registration processes, utilising SMS

Faculties

The faculty at GNDU has a decent mix of senior and junior instructors. Only the top candidates are given the chance to join the faculty after a well considered selection procedure. Everyone on the faculty is pleasant and compassionate, but they also mentor the kids to maintain their discipline. A special effort is made to ensure that no student is reluctant to approach their teacher with any issues or questions pertaining to any particular subject. All of these initiatives aid students in giving their best work.

Events

Guru Nanak Dev University is a lively place where the students are free to initiate and organize Events by consulting their respective HODs. These events are often managed by student bodies, such opportunities teach students important skills like management, leadership, performing under pressure and gives them an idea about how the real world works. Along with this departments related to Engineering have their own Hackathons and Coding Competitions which starts a healthy competition within the students. Inter department competition (JASHAN) and inter college/universe competition (YOUTH-FEST) is also held annual in the GNDU Campus.

Placements

The placement report for 2023 has been made public by Guru Nanak Dev University. The highest package and average package offered for GNDU placements in 2023, according to the placement report through June 20, were INR 17.40 LPA and INR 6.17 LPA, respectively. 867 students in total were placed, too. However, the report states that 153 kids were assigned to TCS Ninja. During the 2023 placement drive, many prestigious companies, including Infosys, TCS Digital, Accenture, Capgemini, etc., paid a campus visit.
