In particular, note that these are NOT typical IT development/coding roles – rather, these are broader Advisory roles where both technology and business skills are brought to bear, and where your adeptness in the differentiated features of office products like Word / Excel / Powerpoint will be equally important for your success at the workplace.

There were basically many rounds involved in the hiring.

Round 1 (Resume and CGPA shortlisting):

Since around 480 people had applied for the campus drive, there was a cgpa and resume shortlisting round. Anyone having cgpa above 75% and a good resume (remember these are NON-IT roles, hence resume must be up to the mark). After evaluation, 88 students were selected for the three roles including me.

Round 2 (Level-1 Interview):

After the shortlisted student list was out, I received the Level-1 interview link from the company’s HR. In this round, I was asked various questions that were a mixture of technical, mostly non-technical and behavioral. The questions were:

  1. Tell me something about yourself.
  2. Explain your projects.
  3. Explain about the internships which you have done.
  4. Why you have applied for this non-IT role, even if your resume is a perfect fit for a software role?
  5. Tell me what you know about SQL
  6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
  7. Why do you think a shift from software to non-IT will benefit your career?
  8. What do you know about your role?
  9. What are the five principles of SOC2? (Read this from the internet)

My tip for answering these questions is just to be confident and be yourself. Try to express yourself to the fullest. After these interviews from 21 people 7 were shortlisted for Level-2 interview and I was one of them.

Round 3 (Level-2 Interview):

This round was the most hectic of all, I was interviewed for 55 minutes and interviewer was really interactive and kept me going even if I stumbled on few questions. The questions that were asked to me in this interview were:

  1. Tell me something about yourself.
  2. Explain your projects.
  3. How your project will be different from others and will bring in profit for your client?
  4. What is the difference between physical and logical security?
  5. Where do you see yourself 8 years from now?
  6. A situation where a work is to be finished within Friday but your HR receives it on Saturday due to network delay. How will you convince the client to consider this situation?
  7. A situation where the project deadline is on Monday and you and your friend were working on it. Suddenly your friend falls sick and now you have three options: a) You will finish it yourself and submit within deadline b) You will hire someone else from other team to help you complete c) You will ask for extension of deadline.
  8. Tell me about SOC1 and SOC2
  9. What is the difference between security and privacy?
  10. Why you are considering a NON-IT role even though your resume is a perfect fit for software roles?

At the end of such an interactive interview and me fumbling over few questions, I thought I would not be selected, but I was again selected for Level-3 Interview which was the last part of the hiring process.

Round 4 (Level-3 Interview):

In this round out of 7 students in all three roles 3 students were selected for each and this round went very smooth compared to the other two rounds of interview, the questions were too simple and I was more than confident to answer these questions. The questions are:

  1. Tell me something about yourself and your family background.
  2. Explain your full resume to me.
  3. Where do you see yourself 8-10 years from now?
  4. Why choosing a non-it role instead of software one?
  5. Any questions for us?

These were the rounds involved in the hiring process, and for cyber associate role there was an extra GD round since there were 60 students in the shortlisted list of students. For the other two roles directly they started with Level-1 interview.

After 2 days, the training and placement officer declared the results and 6 students were selected for three roles and I was one of them. I thank god and my parents for trusting me in this journey and I hope God helps me in this new path.
