Admission Process

My college is Government Engineering College Ajmer. It is the autonomous institute of the Rajasthan Government. I have been admitted to the Computer Science branch through REAP (Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process). In the merit list by the REAP, I ranked under 100 all over the state on the basis of my 12th percentile. REAP is the admission process to get Admission in Rajasthan Engineering Colleges (Government and private colleges) which are listed under the REAP in that enrolling session. It needs documents like a domicile certificate, copy of the 12th mark sheet, Aadhar card, medical certificate(signed by a doctor), income certificate, caste certificate. Through REAP a candidate can get admission in his/her desired college ​under SFS (self-financed seat)/GAS (Government aided seat). For GAS admission, a candidate is required to submit the proof of his/her parent’s enrollment in any Government department. A candidate can fill 6-7 (may vary) desired colleges with the interested branches, based on seats and merit list the college assigns seat to a student.

Experience during admission

I got admission to SFS after which a merit list is declared in I got this college according to the seat available and precedence of choice of college during the form filling. I have chosen this college as my first choice so I get it at first attempt. If a candidate doesn’t get a chance in his/her desired college then he/she can fill out the Upward Movement form to fill form for the desired college or directly apply to that college after the REAP has ended depending upon the seats available in that college and branch desired.

After getting admission in college if candidate required to change branch within the college, he/she can fill Internal Sliding form which on subject to availability of seat assigns desired seat to the candidate.

The admission process from form filling to the first day of college is smooth, however it may be anarchical if candidate have lack of any document or if a college having limited seats, then the college may also released the order of vacant seats after the REAP has been closed.

About the College

It’s been a time in this college and from my side the college is best in terms of any other government college in Rajasthan. It has well qualified faculties from IITs, NITs and they have good experience in teaching as well as in industry. The college is affiliated to RTU (Rajasthan Technical University). The campus is of around 300 acres of land with half of its area has been used and remaining is to be going under development in upcoming years for new buildings. The campus has 2 buildings for teaching and administration purpose, a mechanical workshop, building for electrical and civil department, a library, girls hostel, sports and guest complex, SBI bank with parking facility. The campus also encompasses a beautiful scene of natural grassland and mountain region which is best suited for trekking especially for NCC training of the College. Also the alumni of the College are supportive. They are placed at good positions in private, government institutes and MNCs. One such was the former co-founder of 1mg who was the student of this college in ECE branch. Other known alumni include professional singer, central GST officer and other prominent members.

Placement ratio is also good from this college in core branches(Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) as well as in IT branch(Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering). Average package offered to the students of GECA is 4-5 LPA, which is descent. More higher package can be bagged based on the skills and training of the students.

Other Courses Offered

The college also offers Post Graduation (MBA, MCA, MTech.) and Research/Doctoral Programme (Ph.D.) in various domains. Admission to PG programme is through CAM (Centralized Admission for Masters – admission process by RTU) and direct college also (subject to the seats available in desired programme). For Ph.D. programme college opens application every year depending upon the availability of Research Supervisor or a candidate may directly contact to the supervisor on the mail regarding course query.
