Hi everyone, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering from KGEC (Kalyani Government Engineering College). Today I am here to share my experience of my admission process at KGEC, so I took admission in 2022 by giving JELET (Joint Entrance Exam for Lateral Entry).

KGEC is among the top Government Engineering Colleges in West Bengal which is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata.

Exams that need to be cleared to get admission at KGEC for B.Tech are:-

  1. WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination)
  2. JELET (Joint Entrance Exam for Lateral Entry)
  • Available Branches for B.Tech:-
  1. Computer Science & Engineering
  2. Electrical Engineering
  3. Information Technology
  4. Electronics & Communication Engineering
  5. Mechanical Engineering

Criteria & Admission Process:-

  1. Eligibility:- The institution has specific eligibility criteria that applicants needed to meet which are usually included a minimum percentage in the qualifying examination (such as High School or Diploma grades).
  2. Entrance:- The candidates need to qualify with a good score or rank in WBJEE or JELET. As I scored 188 in rank in JELET.
  3. Online Application:- Candidates need to register for the online counseling process which is conducted by WBJEEB Board.
  4. Shortlisting:- Based on the Entrance examination rank, WBJEEB shortlisted candidates for the seat acceptance & admission round.
  5. Acceptance & Enrollment:- Once a candidate received the admission offer letter like me, had to confirm the acceptance by paying the required fees within the given deadline. The institute provided details instructions on the process of enrollment, including Document Verification.

Documents that are required during admission are as follows:-

  1. WBJEE/JELET Admit Card
  2. WBJEE/JELET Rank Card
  3. Class X Admit or Date of Birth Proof
  4. Class X Marksheet & Certificate
  5. Class XII Marksheet & Certificate (Only for WBJEE candidates)
  6. Diploma Engineering Marksheet (Only for JELET candidates)
  7. Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
  8. Category Certificate (if applicable)
  9. Passport sized photos
  10. Medical Certificate (as per format)
  11. Domicile Certificate (only for UR/General candidates)
  12. Anti-Ragging affidavit
  13. Original Payment Receipts
  14. ID Proof (Aadhaar Card or Pan Card or others)

Walking out of the administrative building, I couldn’t help, but smile. knowing that my journey as an engineering student at KGEC was about to begin. The campus was enchanting full of greenery and an aura of academic excellence. I eagerly looked forward to the challenges, knowledge, and experiences that awaited me in the coming years.

Securing GMR 188 in JELET and getting admission to KGEC was a turning point in my life. Overall, the admission experience for the Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering was challenging but rewarding. It required proper preparation and dedication to excel in the entrance examination. Finally, it not only reaffirmed my belief in the power of hard work and perseverance but also instilled in me a deep sense of gratitude and determination to make the most of this incredible opportunity.
