Hey Geeks! Hope you all are doing extremely well.

I’m writing this article to convey the path of getting admitted to a Government College in Chhattisgarh.

So, it begins with the CGPET-Chhattisgarh Pre-Engineering Test,  an entrance examination for getting admission into engineering colleges.

The exam pattern is as follows:

Mode of Exam Offline (Pen and Paper Based)
Exam Duration 3 Hours
Section

Physics

Mathematics

Chemistry

Total Questions 150 Questions
Marking Scheme For every correct response, 1 mark will be given. No negative marking.

Sharing my experience regarding the admission procedure:

I’m Ankita Kshatriya, pursuing BTech(2019-23) in Computer Science Engineering from Government Engineering College Bilaspur (Cg). So, 4 years back when I appeared for the CGPET examination and secured a decent rank in the examination, there were conflicts in my mind about which college should I opt for for my BTech.

My family urged me to reside in the state itself and go ahead with my under graduation. Keeping this in mind I started surfing the Internet regarding some good Engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh.

After a lot of research, I decided to get myself admitted to a Government College and at that time, while I was about to take admission there were very few websites that gave me insights of the college. Not all the information I received was true and complete. So talking about Chhattisgarh there are 4 institutions as per my knowledge for BTech, namely GEC Bilaspur, GEC Raipur, GEC Jagdalpur, and GGV Bilaspur (Central University). I reached this decision of taking admission into the government college will be clear to you by the end of this article.

My rank was not so good, so while appearing for the counselling I was continuously allotted to private colleges in all three rounds. Here’s what you should note, if are aspiring to get into a government college for BTech in Chhattisgarh your Rank should be under 700 or 1000.

Except for the three rounds of counselling, if the seats are remaining there are spot rounds that are conducted wherein you’ll have to be physically present at the time of counselling. They will display the number of seats vacant in a particular branch for different categories. I got my seat allotted in this round and was allotted Mechanical Engineering, which was not my cup of tea. I went for the next and last round of counselling and filed for the branch change and got Information technology, which was a sigh of relief to me.

Next, we went ahead with all the admission procedures as directed by the college officials. And got to know that there is no Tuition fee for the girl candidates, this was the best part I felt.

Also, there was a 7-day induction programme arranged by the University for the freshers which included certain events of Joy, like music concerts, followed by refreshments, etc.

My four years in the college were most joyful, the college has a supportive staff and the best faculty members to guide students.

I would recommend this college to the ones who want to pursue engineering but can’t afford to pay the huge amount of fee to private colleges. Also, I would highlight the drawback of the college, that the placement ratio is extremely less so do not rely on Campus placements, work hard and get a job by yourself.

If still you have any queries do let me know, would be grateful to help you out!
