My two kids were earlier studying in a typical CBSE board school in Noida. One of my kids was finding it really difficult to cope with the academic pressure. They were asking them to mug up a lot of stuff which was difficult for us as well to work with the kids. To avoid this pressure, we finally decided to move the kids to the IB board. I searched a lot of schools around me and found the name Genesis School.

I applied there using their online portal. There was some application fee that was required. After applying online, I got an email for a school visit. I visited the school with my kids. During the visit, we were first told about the differences between CBSE and IB boards. Then they showed us the campus. They had a brief discussion with us about our background and all. After that, they took both kids to different classrooms and did their interviews. We were not told the result just after the interview. After 2-3 days, we got a confirmation email.

Following are the points about the school to note before you consider taking admission for your kids.

  •  The IB board of the school does not emphasize too much academics and focuses more on practice-based learning. So the kids seem to be relatively free. I have seen my kids feeling much less pressure and enjoying school. They rarely say that they do not want to go to school.
  •  There is a focus on extra-curricular activities.
  • The school is flexible in terms of your kid’s time on campus. They have
    • Normal 8 to 3 classes
    • After School Program kids can stay up to 5. After school, they can participate in multiple sports/activities.
    • 5 days hostel program where kids stay on campus and come home on weekends
    • 7 days hostel program
  • The fee is relatively high. In fact, everything is expensive here.
  • There are foreign students in classes that help your kids to grow better.

Overall it has been a good experience for parents who are not looking for their kids to be very competitive and focus too much on academics. If you are looking for your kid’s overall growth, then this may be a good and expensive choice.
