Embarking on the journey towards college admission is like setting sail on a vast ocean of possibilities. It’s a journey filled with twists and turns, challenges, and unexpected discoveries. My own voyage began with uncertainty and setbacks, but through resilience and determination, I found my way to success.

As a 12th Std student, it was a daunting task of college admissions with a mix of excitement and apprehension. The pandemic added an extra layer of complexity, with delayed results and uncertain exam schedules. My first attempt at the JEE left me disappointed with a low percentile, but instead of giving in to despair, I saw it as an opportunity to improve. With each setback, I refused to lose hope. I dedicated myself to rigorous study and preparation, determined to turn my failures into stepping stones towards success. My efforts paid off when I saw a significant improvement in my percentile score on my next attempt. Yet, despite my progress, the cutoffs for my dream college i.e. IIT BOMBAY remained out of reach. Undeterred, I explored alternative paths, including appearing for the MHT-CET exam, where I achieved a commendable percentile.

However, even with this accomplishment, the doors to prestigious institutions seemed firmly closed because it was my dream to be at IIT Bombay. Though counselling sessions offered a glimmer of hope, the options presented were not what I had envisioned for myself. In the face of uncertainty, I chose to embrace the opportunities that lay before me. I chose a college i.e. G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management which was not initially my top choice, but offered the potential for growth and discovery, as the institution became a place where I found my voice, pursued my passions, and forged lifelong friendships.

Looking back on my journey, I realize that success in college admissions is not just about achieving a high percentile or gaining admission to a prestigious institution. It’s about resilience in the face of adversity, adaptability in navigating unexpected challenges, and the courage to embrace new opportunities. For those embarking on their own college admissions journey, I offer this advice: don’t be discouraged by setbacks, keep pushing forward, and be open to the possibilities that lie beyond your initial expectations. The path to success may be winding and uncertain, but with determination and perseverance, you will find your way to a bright and fulfilling future.
