EXL Service Interview Experience (On-Campus)

Recruitment Process: EXL conducts 3 rounds to select freshers as Software engineers in their organization.

1. Online Test – 45 min
2. Technical Interview 1 – 25 min
3. Technical Interview 2 – 1 hour

Online Test:

The journey commenced with an Online Test that assessed various skills. We faced multiple-choice questions on quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal abilities. Additionally, the test covered computer science subjects like Operating Systems, DBMS, Computer Networks, and OOPS. We had 45 minutes to attempt 60 questions, testing our speed and knowledge.

Interview Round 1:

After half an hour, we received information about the interviews. The first round was a technical one, where the interviewer asked basic questions about my programming language (C++ in my case). Then, he posed questions related to Basic Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) involving Array, String, Sorting, Searching, Stack, and Queue. This round lasted for about 25 minutes, allowing me to showcase my knowledge in these areas.

Interview Round 2:

After a brief 10-minute interlude, I was called for the second technical round. The interviewer started by showing interest in my projects and requested a live demonstration on my laptop. Then, he presented mathematics questions related to quants and reasoning, touching on topics like matrices and vectors. Subsequently, the round moved to paper coding, where I received questions related to arrays, strings, and Linked Lists. Writing code on paper was a bit nerve-wracking for me, as I was more accustomed to using compilers like VS Code. However, the interviewer was supportive, helping me through the process as I shared my thought process while solving the questions. Toward the end, he asked some personal questions about my family background and one intriguing query about my willingness to join testing as a career option. As my passion lies in development, I expressed my enthusiasm for it, while assuring the interviewer that I would give my best effort in testing if given the opportunity. Lastly, he asked about the full form of OTT since one of my projects was a Movie web app. The entire interview lasted about an hour, comprising technical challenges and insightful discussions.

Selection Outcome:

After a week of anticipation, I received an email confirming my selection as a Software Engineer at EXL Service. The entire experience was fulfilling, and I am eagerly looking forward to embarking on this new chapter in my professional journey.
