Deloitte Interview Experience for Software Engineer (Off-Campus)

Hello everyone,

In this article I will tell you about my interview experience at the Deloitte consulting firm for the Hyderabad location so let’s dive down and start with the selection process.

Firstly, during my job-hunting process, I was looking for big MNCs like Deloitte, amazon, EY, etc. I am asking people to provide referrals in their firm and also applying the jobs from various job portals like Linked In, indeed, Naukri, etc.

So after a few days of job searching I got a direct phone call from Deloitte HR that we had got your CV from one of our recruitment agencies and asking me like that is you are looking for a job change and other relevant questions like what your current org name, what’s your current CTC and how much experience you have, how many days of notice period you have or already serving your notice period and many more necessity questions for better knowing me.

Then after a few days, I again received a phone call from HR that you shortlisted a student for our recruitment process and asked me for availability for a few days during selection.

So now I am happy and eager to know how my selection and recruitment process will go HR tells me that first we have a Machine coding round and then followed 3 technical and 1 managerial round and last, we have one HR round.

Now let me explain and let you know guys more about each round and what happens in those rounds.

ROUND 1 [Machine Coding Round] :

In this round, they assigned me one Hacker Earth coding round test in which I had 2 coding questions followed by 10 technical programming output-based questions. coding problems are level of medium and hard difficulty. The first coding question is related to the data structure of the shortest related path using Dijkstra or prims you can use to implement and the other hard one is related to dynamic programming. I was able to solve 1 code completely while passing all the desired test cases and the second question I was able to solve partially in which some test cases are not completely passed, this round is for a duration of 1:30 H and auto submission of answers is also enabled in the test that I like the most so that’s all about the first round.

So, after a few days, I received mail from HR recruitment that you have successfully qualified for the first machine coding round please let us know your availability so that we can align your technical rounds.

ROUND 2 [Technical Round-1] :

So, my first technical round my aligned on their one-on-one interview meeting portal in which audio and video are completely enabled as well as screen capturing. so, the interviewer came and welcomed me and asked some introductory questions and then suddenly moved to programming fundamentals questions like- pointers, recursion, and list basic operations, and then he moved to networking and operating systems questions like-

  1. TCP/IP,
  2. Handshaking
  3. Mutual exclusion principle
  4. Starvation,
  5. Scheduling algorithms like round robin etc.

So this round goes for 50 min of duration.

So, after the first round, I got feedback results after the next 2 days and I got a positive response from HR that you cleared the first round of interviews please let us know your availability for the second technical round of interviews.

ROUND 3 [Technical Round-2] :

In the second round of technical interviewer came up with a code editor idea with coding questions so he is asking me

  1. The principle behind stack and
  2. How it works and suddenly after that he put a stack-based data structure question to me.

I have to tell him the brute force approach and write the code for the same and lastly tell him the space and time complexity of the solution that I gave to him. problem is Merging Overlapping Intervals. so this round goes for around 1:15 Hr. lastly, I feel he is happy with my answers.

So, after 3 to 4 days I received an email from HR that you also cleared the second technical round of interviews as well and we want to go for the last technical round of interviews, if you clear that as well then, we have one managerial HR Round which is left in the process of selection.

Round 4 [Technical round-3] :

This was my last technical round of interviews in I was very scared and nervous because the person who was going to take my interview has 15 years of IT experience and is an architect in the role. so he came and asked me how my first two rounds went and how I felt confident for this round of interviews and asked me about any anxiety or nervous you have I said no very little sounds he understood and observed everything so then he started first asking me from which online platform you attend daily meeting calls in your firm I say zoom so then move to their system design part by asking what are the functional and non-functional requirement and overall backend functionality of the zoom app so around 32 min our discussion goes on and after this he is asking me performance measurement terms like —

  1. What are Cohesion, scaler, and vertical latency?
  2. Code optimization and various other related terms in system design.

Our cross-one discussion lasted for around 48 min in duration and we came up to the end of the interview round.

Around 3 to 4 days I got mail from HR and a call as well that our interviewer selected you as a desired perfect candidate now, we want to go for the last managerial HR round so please confirm your availability as early as you can. I feel very happy and asked for 7 days of preparation for this round because this is my last round of interviews and if I clear this as well then I will get selected for Deloitte as a Software Engineer.

ROUND 5 [Managerial HR round] :

So now the last round of this long interview process has come up and I was very nervous for this interview round because it has a lot of hopes that I have been carrying on for a very long time so I remembered the name of god and jumped to the interview round, the interviewer is early joined before me and waiting for me to eat, I came and gave my introduction to him and he is asking me from my last 3 rounds of interview experience and then he starts his round of interview from questions like –

  1. What projects had you covered in your experience and organization
  2. How’s your team working going on?
  3. How you manage your product solution.
  4. How your product features deployment process is going on.

After a certain interval of these questions he asked me do you have any questions for me because I had done with questions I asked some role base questions about how I fit for this position, what tech stacks you are using under the project, and how many days of sprint work, job location and all so after all these basic stuff questions we came to end of this interview round as well.

Then after this round HR called me and said to me that you have to wait for certain days of period, we will get the feedback from each interview panel list and consolidate and then come to the result whether you selected or not.

So, I waited for 9 days, and after 10 days, HR called me and congratulated the congratulations that you were selected for this profile. We will soon start the welcome onboarding process with you and will keep in touch.
