Crest Data Systems Interview Experience for Devops (On-Campus)

There were 4 rounds in the selection process:

Online Assessment(Coding Test):

There were 2 sections in the assessment. The first section consisted of 7 debugging questions. You will be given a question and its code with some error. You will have to fix that error to get the correct output. The second section consisted of 2 questions of easy to medium difficulty.

1. Given a string, find the number of times a particular character occurs in that string.
2. Given the center and the radius of 2 circles, find the area of intersection of the 2 circles.

Technical Interview 1:

In this round, I was asked to give my introduction and explain my projects in detail. They then asked for further details on my projects. After that, they asked questions on Computer Networks, Linux Commands and Cloud Computing.

1. What are cookies and sessions, and what is the difference between them?
2. How does TCP authenticate its connection?
3. How do you find out which process is currently using a particular port in the Linux terminal?
4. How do you list all the processes and the amount of memory that are utilizing in Linux?

The interviewer asked for many other Linux commands that are commonly used.

Technical Interview 2:

In this round I was mainly asked questions on Devops and Cloud Computing mainly. They also asked questions on the tools that they are using i.e. Terraform, Puppet, kubernetes. They expected that you have a basic idea about all the tools and technologies.

1. What is Devops? What is the purpose of Devops?
2. Have you used AWS before and what services are you familiar with?
3. Why use Terraform when we can automate everything using Python and bash scripting as well?
4. What is Terraform State Management?
5. Why do you want to be a Devops Engineer?

HR Round:

I was asked how my technical interviews went and what I thought about them. They asked about my family members and their occupation. They also asked about my plans for Masters in the future. Then they asked if I am better in a team or an individual. They asked that if there is an emergency would I be okay with coming to work outside of office hours. They asked if I was comfortable with the 18 month bond that I have to sign as well.

After all these rounds I got an offer from “Crest Data Systems”.
