The total placement procedure consisted of 4 rounds and it was a pool campus hiring.

People having CGPA above 7.5 are eligible to apply and more than 130 students applied from our campus.

ROUND 1 :

This is an online assessment round that consists of 3 coding questions. Two questions were medium and one was hard. Refer to all the previous year’s CommVault OA questions. It focuses on DP and graphs. I was able to solve 2 questions and got shortlisted for the next round. 15 people were shortlisted from our college.

Shortlisted students were given instructions about round 2 just a day before the round 2. They have provided us with virtual machines and asked us to check whether there are any issues connecting to the virtual machines. On the day of round 2, we are supposed to stay available from 8 AM to 7 PM because all the technical rounds will be evaluated on the same day.

ROUND 2(Design Round):

This is a long coding round of 6 hours. We explained the problem statement and at around 9 AM, we broke into separate rooms and were assigned a mentor. The problem statement is to design a file system such that we should be able to create separate disks and each disk should contain some files and file data should be stored in blocks of 4 bytes each. We also have to perform encryption and decryption of disks. Before we start coding, we have to design the approach to our solution and explain it to the mentor. He gave us time till 10 AM and with the approval of my design by the mentor, I started coding. For every 20 min, the mentor asks for an update and checks whether there is progress or not. A few students were asked to leave the meeting if they hadn’t seen any progress. I finished the coding by 1 PM and my mentor evaluated and asked me to wait for the HR call.

This round requires strong knowledge of oops, operating system.

Round 3:

I got an email saying the technical round is scheduled at 3:30 pm. I joined the meeting, there were two interviewers. They started with my projects. They asked me some questions about c language and pointers. Interviewers are interested in going deep into the topic as we keep on answering their questions. At some point, he realised that the question was out of scope. Then there was a DSA question which was a medium question. They moved to operating systems and asked me about multithreading, and memory sharing. At last, they tested my oops knowledge by asking questions related to runtime polymorphism. This was a pretty interesting round and it almost tested my core CS fundamentals. This round was held for 2 hours.

ROUND 4:

I got a call from HR asking to join the HR which is for 10 min. There were general HR questions like Tell me about yourself, where are you from?

RESULTS: The day after the HR round, they scheduled a meeting to announce the results. Based on the interview feedback, they segregated the students into 2 categories, one is intern and the other is intern+ full-time. I was offered intern+ full-time.
