Citi, also known as Citibank or Citicorp is a leading financial institution, part of the Big 4 banks of the United States. They provide banking and financial services to individuals and corporations all across the world. They operate across all time zones, various geographies and cultural areas. Citi selects engineers every year to be part of their software development teams. They have a graduate rotation programme as well. Citi has a wide array of business units whose software is mainly developed in India. The interview process is very simple and can be cracked with a good amount of effort. There is a 3 – stage interview process for the technology analyst programme.

Interview Process

Online Assessment

This assessment is generally 1 to 1.5 hours in duration, usually held in partnership with a test software where the student is tested mainly in aptitude (verbal, quantitative and logical reasoning), technical MCQ questions and two coding questions. The two coding questions can be attempted from a variety of programming languages of choice and are of intermediate level. Linked lists, arrays and stacks are most important, along with sorting and searching algorithms. Limited time is given for each section, which is a challenge and when the counter drops to zero, the test is automatically submitted and logged out. The test is proctored all the time.

Technical interview

Students who are generally shortlisted from the online assessment attend a technical interview for a half-hour duration in which 2 panellists are present. Questions about Object-oriented programming, Java, SQL, Exception handling, basic data structures, time complexities and resume-based questions are asked. Previously developed projects of the student are also of concern during the interview. Java and OOPs are the main topics from which questions can be expected and good knowledge would give the candidates a better edge over others.

HR round

On successfully passing the technical interview, it is followed by an HR round of variable duration. Mostly a single panelist is present. General introductions and HR questions are asked.
