As part of the company’s larger global development goals to cover more nations, OpenAI has expanded the availability of its ChatGPT app to iOS users in India.

For iPhone users in the US, the Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence startup debuted a chatbot app. The company is making the ChatGPT iOS app available in new nations and areas. The ChatGPT app is now available for download from the Apple App Store in ten more countries including India.

iPhones running iOS 16.1 or later can download the 16.3 MB ChatGPT iOS app. The OpenAI app is free, but if you want to use ChatGPT Plus, you’ll have to pay Rs 1,999 each month.

Now, iOS users in Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the UAE can access the app.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT got 480,000 installs in the first five days of its US launch for iOS, according to data.ai inputs. ChatGPT is gaining popularity faster than other AI conversation bots. OpenAI is solidifying its position in the tech sector by making the technology available to billions of iPhone users.

OpenAI this week expanded the app to 11 other nations. These include the following: Nigeria, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Albania, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, and the UK.

Users may now establish and share ChatGPT chats with others thanks to a new feature shared links that the firm has unveiled.

“Recipients of your shared link can either view the conversation or copy it to their chats to continue the thread. This feature is currently rolling out to a small set of testers in alpha, with plans to expand to all users (including free) in the upcoming weeks,” said OpenAI.

OpenAI aspires to serve a larger audience across several mobile platforms with an Android version in the works. Soon, ChatGPT will be available on your Android, the company announced in a blog post.

On iPhones, users may now turn off their ChatGPT chat history. Conversations that began on smartphones with chat history turned off won’t be utilized to enhance OpenAI’s models, the company has said. The chats will only be kept for 30 days and the user’s history will not be visible on any device thanks to this function. Similar to the web feature, this setting will not sync between devices or browsers.

Both Google and Microsoft have added AI functionality to their search engines, with the latter being made possible via a costly alliance with OpenAI. However, having direct access to ChatGPT on a mobile device rather than via an internet search engine or browser may dramatically change how users now use their phones to hunt for and interact with information.
