OpenAI announces the launch of an official app for its AI chatbot, ChatGPT. The ChatGPT app is available for iOS users and the company promises to bring the Android version of the app for the users soon.

OpenAI launches an official ChatGPT app for iOS

On Thursday, 18th May 2023, ChatGPT owner OpenAI officially announced that it is launching a versatile ChatGPT application for iOS users. The ChatGPT app is free to use for the users and the users can avail of multiple features that the app offers along with the already existing features and capabilities offered on the ChatGPT web version.

OpenAI took to its official website to announce the launch and revealed the significant features of the ChatGPT iOS app in its blog post.

“The ChatGPT app is free to use and syncs your history across devices. It also integrates Whisper, our open-source speech-recognition system, enabling voice input. ChatGPT Plus subscribers get exclusive access to GPT-4’s capabilities, early access to features, and faster response times, all on iOS.”

How to download and use ChatGPT app on iphone?

Here are the steps to download ChatGPT for iphone:

  • Go to app store and search ChatGPT Official App.
  • Click on Download and Open the App.
  • Now, Log in using a Google account, Microsoft or Apple Account.
  • If not available, create new account on ChatGPT and Login.
  • Start using the App.

The key features mentioned by OpenAI that make the ChatGPT app a versatile one are that users can easily sync their data across devices and also give prompts through voice using their device’s microphone. The GPT-4 capabilities will be accessible to the premium subscribers of ChatGPT.

The users can also learn new languages and get creative inspiration and ideas from the app. The app provides instant answers, gives tailored advice to the users, and other summarizing and technical answers support.

The app however still has the same shortcomings as its web version. The users are prone to inaccurate answers and privacy issues even in the ChatGPT app and the app’s home screen even alerts the users to not share any of their sensitive data.

The introduction of this mobile application came across as a complete surprise for the ChatGPT users since the company never hinted towards the same. The company acknowledged the huge demand for a ChatGPT application and has rolled out an iOS version initially but promises to bring an Android-supported version of the ChatGPT app in the near future.

The app is only available to iOS users in the U.S. as of now but will slowly be accessible to users in other countries over the upcoming weeks. Users can download the app from the App Store and use it just like they use the ChatGPT web version.

With the launch of the ChatGPT app, the company is aiming towards making ChatGPT more accessible for users and make ChatGPT a more powerful tool than it already is.
