Teachers are just like in every other college. A lot of them are very friendly and young; they usually understand your concerns and help you out. Pretty chill. Some of them are completely arrogant individuals, but I suppose every college has their bunch. The placement is there, and if you’re capable, you WILL get a good package. There’s no doubt about it. The thing about universities like CU is that they are rich and have the power to bring big companies like Microsoft and Amazon to campus. The rest is on the students if they have the skills or not.

I am only talking about BCA here. I don’t know if any other program has placements in this college or not. If you’re coming here for Computer Applications, BCA is the best. It is okay, 99% identical to BCA. I’ve seen departments like Mech, and EE do cool stuff like making electric cars, but I have no idea about placements for them. I do know they don’t get as many companies as BCA. The crowd is way too diverse, man. There are people from the South, Northeast, Kashmir, Africa, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and whatnot here. The advertisement of CU is rock solid, you can tell that as they’re also advertising on Quora, lol. However, I generally dislike people from Haryana here because they’re usually impolite, not very bright, and getting into fights… typical behavior. Not all of them are bad; my roommate is from Haryana, and he’s a cool guy, but most of them I dislike.

The main population of the college is from Himachal, UP/Bihar, Haryana, and Jammu-Kashmir in my experience, but as I said, people from everywhere are here. I’m personally from Rajasthan, and there are 5 other Rajasthanis in my class too. There are opportunities, but there’s also a lot of crowd. If you’re good enough, you’ll grab those opportunities before others. Clubs barely exist. All they do is workshops, and there’s no community-type club here right now. Might change in the future, but who knows? I dislike that about CU; there’s hardly any way to make new friends outside class here.

Hostels are pretty good. There’s a home theatre in the underground of every NC tower where you can watch matches and stuff. Food is alright; lunch is usually good, and dinner is usually eh but bearable. A lot of food outlets though, so that’s not a problem. Some maids clean rooms almost every day. If you have some issue related to electricity, plumbing, internet, etc., one complaint on UIMS, and it’s usually fixed within 12–24 hours. They take complaints seriously. There’s also a gym and other facilities.

The distance from Pathankot is around 45 minutes. If you’re coming here for Pathankot, don’t. It’s not close. But traveling isn’t a hassle here; you can find autos in front of the college every minute of the day to Kharar, and then you can take an AC CTU bus to Pathankot. The total cost of traveling to Pathankot and back is usually around 80 rupees/head. NCM Mall is really close, and 20 rs. will get you there. Beautiful scenic views, man. For real. I live on the 9th floor, and I can see some great views from up here. It’s great, really. I don’t know about other hostels, but NC hostels have beautiful views.

There’s so much scripting in this college though. Like if someone from outside comes, who’s a big name, they’ll usually prepare students with questions beforehand. But I guess that’s okay since some individuals of the college may ask embarrassing questions that might not give a good impression to the outsider. Low on actions, big on words. Sometimes they promise a lot of stuff but don’t take action for the same. That’s how every private college is, but at least these guys listen to you.
