Chandigarh University Admission Experience

Stepping in the unknown leaving the comfort of my homeland Nepal, I embarked on a life-changing journey to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at an Indian University. The decision was not easy, as it meant venturing into a country that produces the highest number of engineering graduates every year from thousands of Universities and Engineering Institutions. Deciding on them was a quandary. Nevertheless, the allure of academic excellence and the opportunity to broaden my horizon proved to be irresistible, urging me to take a leap of faith. This is the story of my admission experience and how I embarked on diversity to carve a path towards personal and academic growth.

The Search:

The search for that one University or Educational Institution was the first challenge I faced. Researching and selecting that one Indian University involved meticulous examination of various factors, including academic reputation, course offering, faculty, campus facility, and placements. The anxiety of choosing a place that would soon become my second home was real, I knew it was the most crucial decision of my life. After examining multiple private and government universities on various parameters. I finally chose Chandigarh University considering it’s excellent reputation, enchanting location, placements, and global rankings.

The Process:

After finally deciding on the university, I researched about the admission process for Nepali Students at Chandigarh University. I came to know about various ways to get into Chandigarh University. A few ways to get into this university are listed below:

• SII Scholarship
• Complex Scholarship
• ICCRC Scholarship
• Direct Admission

The top three are fully funded scholarships by the government of India. In this article, the focus will be directed toward the “Direct Admission Process.” Chandigarh University has a regional office in Kathmandu. Interested students have to contact the regional office through the contact mentioned on the official website. I followed the mentioned steps. From the regional office, I came to know that Nepali students don’t have to appear in any entrance examinations if they meet the eligibility. I was eligible for admission based on my academic performance.

 The Eligibility:

The requirement to be eligible to take admitted at Chandigarh University is pretty straightforward. Anyone who has passed +2 from NEB (National Education Board), the educational board of Nepal with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) are eligible for engineering courses offered by the university. Since my major was Intermediate in Science (I.Sc.) and my CGPA was 3.25 I was eligible to take admission on any engineering course offered by the university.

The Scholarship:

• The scholarship for Nepali Students is entirely based on the performance of grade 11 and 12.
• 70% and above (equivalent to 2.8 or greater CGPA): 50% Scholarship on academic fee
• 50% and above (equivalent to 2 or greater CGPA): 35% Scholarship on academic fee

The conclusion:

Finally, I took admitted to Chandigarh University and embarked on an exciting journey of knowledge and growth. The academic transition demanded resilience and determination. The curriculum was rigorous, and the teaching methods were distinct from what is accustomed back in Nepal. The most rewarding part of studying in India was interacting with people from all corners of the world. Choosing to study in India was an arduous decision but it turned out to be the most transformative chapter of my life.
