So Brillio came for on-campus selection for us, and after the pre-placement talk, the next day was the Online Assessment.

Round 1: Online Assessment

The test was for 2 hrs and they had given us the results within 2 days. 2 coding questions: 1 was DP (yeah I know what you guys are thinking xD) and the other was related to arrays and hashing.

  • 2 MySQL queries: they were easy – just basic inner Join and group by related,
  • 30 technical MCQ (CN, DBMS, AND OS),
  • 10 logical reasoning,
  • 10 verbal and 10 aptitudes.

After this round, around 42 students were shortlisted.

Tips: Just do some decent-level preparation for the above-mentioned topics, and you’ll get through the OA easily.

Round 2: Group Discussion session (GD)

So here the 42 members were divided into 4 groups, each group having 10-11 members. And each group was having one HR sitting with us at the rounded table. She gave us the topic “Social Media: Boon or Bane.”

During the group discussion, all the participants expressed their diverse views. Some emphasized its boon, citing its increased connectivity, knowledge sharing, and business opportunities. Others pointed it as a bane, raising concerns about addiction, mental health impact, and the spread of misinformation so easily and it getting viral. The discussion was intense but respectful. It lasted for 15 minutes.

After hearing from all the students, she let us go and told us to wait till every team gets their GD session over.

Overall, the experience encouraged critical thinking and open-mindedness.

After the clearance of this round, only 20 members were remaining.

Round 3: Technical Round

I have been called for the technical round. There were around 4 panels each sitting in different rooms and 20 students. So they divided the students around 5 for each panel.

Each student was given about 30 mins of the technical interview.

I was a bit nervous seeing him, but soon I gained confidence after starting a conversation with him.

The technical round started. He asked me to feel comfortable. He started asking questions about which is my primary coding language… I said Java, he asked why Java? I said .it gives me the feel of coding like a professional developer and also told him some Java buzzwords (features of Java).

Then he asked about my projects and final year project. Some related questions on that project to code. Then he told me how do you reverse a string in Java. I explained to him that Java is immutable, so we’ll have to use StringBuffer/StringBuilder.

Finally, he asked me “Tell me something about hashing?” so I explained to him the concept of hashing, collisions, etc.

He also asked me about some Java 8 features, so I told him about Lambda Expressions and the Functional interface, he was really got impressed with that answer. I could sense by that time that I’m gonna crack this one.

After half an hour, I got the result that I have cleared the technical round and was selected for HR.

Tip: Know your project inside and out very well, and the programming language you have chosen.

Round 4: HR

Once I have been to the HR round, I was pretty confident. The HR ma’am was polite and nice. Some HR questions were like

  • Introduce yourself and where is your hometown.
  • about how many members in my family?
  • What does my father do?
  • My strengths and weaknesses?

The result of the HR round came at around 5 PM. I was in college and eagerly awaiting the result. When the results were announced, I was nervous but also confident that my name will definitely be there in the list as I had aced the Technical round.

My name was there. I was really on cloud nine after hearing my name.

But out of 12 people that gave the HR round, only 10 were selected finally.

At this point, I realized that people also get rejected in the HR round as well.

After reaching the hostel, I called my parents and gave them the news. They were very happy too. Then, lastly, the photo sessions began with the company HRs and others.

All in all, it was a great experience.
