Over the last few years, companies are shifting from traditional marketing to digital media marketing as it is more effective in gaining new customers. Two such platforms are Magento and BigCommerce which provides different services to build websites, web applications and e-commerce stores.

BigCommerce-vs-Magento

BigCommerce is an e-commerce platform which provides different services to its users like creating online stores, hosting websites and web applications, search engine optimization etc. It is listed in the NASDAQ platform list. It was founded by Eddie Machaalani and Mitchell Harper in 2009 for the online selling of products. It became one of the top companies in Australia for providing software as a service.

Advantages of BigCommerce

  • It provides drag and drop features to build websites easily.
  • It supports multiple currencies to buy and sell goods.
  • It provides PayPal integration for payment options.
  • It gives AMP (Accelerated mobile pages) the ability to make it responsive for mobile platforms.  

Disadvantages of BigCommerce

  • It puts a limit on sales according to the plan chosen by the customer.
  • It does not have multi-lingual capabilities.

Magento can be understood as an e-commerce platform which helps its users to create online stores for selling their products and services. It was founded by Roy Rubin and it was initially launched in 2008. It was built using the PHP programming language. It is an open-source platform. In 2018 Adobe Incorporation purchased it for $1.68 billion. MySQL and MariaDB are used as databases to store information.

Advantages of Magento

  • It allows to create applications which are responsive on various devices are android, iPad etc.
  • It is SEO friendly means it is easy to optimize websites to increase ranking for SERP.
  • Has a lot of performance tracking tools to evaluate results.
  • Loading speed is good.
  • Easy integration with third-party plugins.

Disadvantages of Magento

  • Setup and configuration are difficult as compared to Joomla.
  • Hosting requires large space which slows down the website speed.
  • It is costly as compared to other platforms providing similar services.7
