Review Process

Once, your profile will get accepted and you’ll join the GFG team as a Reviewer, now you’ll be required to start reviewing the articles. The complete process of reviewing the article with associated rules & regulations is as follows:

1. Picking the Article to Review – Firstly, what the reviewer needs to do is go to the ‘Pick to Review’ section and click on the ‘Pencil Icon’ to pick the articles for reviewing. The reviewer is strictly recommended to remember that pick only those articles for review that belong to his allotted domain/category. In case, if he picks up an article that doesn’t fall under his respective domain/category, he must inform his mentor immediately.

2. Pick Article Limit – The reviewer can only pick a maximum of 5 articles at a time for review or can only have a maximum of 5 articles in his Pending section at a time. Although, suppose the reviewer picks 5 articles for review and he is done with reviewing 2 articles and have sent these 2 to ‘Publish Queue’ then now he obviously can pick 2 more articles as the maximum count of pending articles is 5.

3. Provide Feedback to Author (If Needed) / Communicate with GFG Team using Editor’s Thread – Aafter picking the article, now the reviewer needs to review/assess it. If the reviewer finds any major flaw or issue in it like incomplete or inaccurate information, plagiarism issues, etc or requires any other change in the article from the author then he has to provide feedback/comment to the author in ‘Author’s Thread’ and then the article status will automatically change to the ‘Awaiting Author’. Also, in case of any query, while reviewing an article, the reviewer can connect with his assigned mentor on the ‘Editor’s Thread’ of that particular article.

Moreover, if there is a need to discard the article, the reviewer is required to click on the ‘Discard Queue’ button and provide the reason for discarding the article. The discarded article will then be further assessed by the reviewer’s respective mentor to check whether the reason for discarding the article is justifiable or not. Hence, the reviewer needs to be very careful while discarding any article.

4. Rate the Article and Move to Publish Queue – When the reviewer finds the article OK then after making formatting changes or any other improvement (like adding more comments to code, appending output using append output button, making sure that the article is properly formatted, adding more approaches, etc), the reviewer would be required to rate the article/author on a scale of 1 – 5 (1- being low and 5- being high), depending on the content of the article, the structure of the article, time spent by the reviewer to make changes in the article to make it presentable and contain sufficient information. After finalizing the article, the reviewer would be required to click the button ‘Move to Publish Queue’.
