Hi everyone,

In today’s article, I’ll be talking about my recent working experience as a Technical Writer Intern at Finastra. I’ll dive into the company’s portfolio, my roles and responsibilities, and finally my experience while working for them.

About Finastra

Finastra is one of the largest provider of fintech solutions in the world. Headquartered in London, it pioneers innovative solutions to redefine the financial landscape. With a rich legacy stemming from the fusion of two industry giants, Finastra boasts a global presence, serving over 8,500 customers in 130 countries. Renowned for its cutting-edge technologies, the company empowers financial institutions with robust software platforms spanning retail banking, lending, treasury, and more.

My Roles as a Technical Writer Intern

In my previous article, I have already talked about my interview experience with the company for this role, so may check it as well for your reference. Well, talking about my position, I have been offered a 6 months internship with the company with a potential of converting into an FTE. My roles and responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the tools and procedures the technical communication team works on
  • Providing innovative and unique ideas for the docs team to simplify the documentation process
  • Work on existing documents of various clients and projects, and rebrand them according to the latest template
  • Write new documentation for tools which the company uses
  • Collaborate with the Dev and SME team for document releases
  • Work with the docs team to release documentation as per assigned dates
  • Defect documentation of hotfixes

and much more.

My Experience

Moving forward to the final segment of the article, this includes my experience of working for them. As I have already mentioned in my previous article about the seamless hiring process and wonderful interviewers, my experience of working for this company goes in the same direction.

Being a global organization, they have 3 offices in India itself – Pune, Trivandrum, and Bangalore. Since, I’m a student and live in the northern region, they gave me the flexibility of joining the company virtually. It was a very seamless process with the IT assets being delivered to my location without any hassles and the extreme transparency of the onboarding session that involved payroll processing and much more. I loved that!

Because this was my first time joining a global organization, I was scared a bit. But guess what, they had a whole training program planned out for me in my first month! From explaining me about the processes and tools they use to introducing me to the important people of the team, everything was conducted gracefully. Moreover, the IT team had already preset my IT assets with all the programs and tools already installed in my laptop. It was great!

One noticeable thing which I greatly appreciate in the company is their policy of flexibility in giving leaves and vacations! When I told them that I’m gonna be having my exams (I’m in college currently), they were very supportive and insisted on me for taking leaves for almost a whole week, even though my exams were just for 3 days. The manager himself reached out to me encouraging me to focus on my studies and not get overwhelmed with work. I highly appreciate that!

I have been working with the company for some time now, and I love the amount of support and help they consistently provide me with! I think personally, if you are selected for a role in this company, go for it!
