TCS NQT Exam (15th January 2024):

I participated in the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) on my campus. The exam consisted of three sections: Foundation, Advance, and Coding.

Foundation Section:

  • Numerical Ability: I solved around 9-10 questions within the allotted time.
  • Verbal Ability: Found it manageable.
  • Logical Reasoning: Moderately challenging, but I tackled it well.
  • Advance Section:
  • Aptitude: Some questions were of moderate to hard difficulty; I managed to solve 5-6 questions.
  • Coding: There were two coding questions. I found them easy and completed both within 30 minutes.

Coding Questions:

  • Convert a given matrix into a lower triangular matrix (Easy Level).
  • Convert a code word of length ‘s’ into a matrix and print its transpose, given conditions on matrix dimensions (Easy-Medium Level).

Interview Preparation:

After clearing the NQT, I received an email for TCS Prime interviews. I started preparing by reviewing technical subjects, polishing my resume, and practising mock interviews, which proved beneficial in fine-tuning my preparations.

Interview Day (8th February 2024):

  • We were asked to report early, and TCS was strict about punctuality.
  • The interviews began at 9:30 AM and comprised two rounds: Technical + Managerial and HR.

Technical + Managerial Round (35 minutes):

  • Hardest coding problem I’ve solved.
  • Discussion on Generative AI.
  • Puzzle-solving.
  • Discussion on my experiences apart from technical skills.
  • Scenario questions about project preferences and location adaptability.
  • Questions about family background and motivation to join TCS.

HR Round (10 minutes):

  • Questions about the meaning of my name and the declaration on my resume.
  • Verification of the information filled in my resume.
  • Opportunity to ask questions to the interviewer.

Outcome:

On 10th February, I received confirmation from TCS that I cleared their interview process and was asked to submit the required documents.

Overall, the experience was challenging yet rewarding, and I’m excited about the opportunity to join TCS Prime.
