A Must Once-in-a-life time Experience for Everyone

I have shared my beautiful SSB experience with all of my family and friends. Now it’s time to let my fellow geeks know about my SSB interview experience.

I have applied for the role of a Technical Officer in the Indian Navy through 10+2 NAVY TECH Entry.

For the unknown, 10+2 NAVY TECH Entry is one of the best opportunities for young aspiring students to join the Indian Navy after their Intermediate (10+2) as an Officer and serve the country with pride.

So it’s the day of the application and as usual, I have applied for this opportunity with a lot of hope. I would like to mention that I have applied for this opportunity 3 times.

During the first and second opportunities, I was shortlisted for the interview based on my JEE MAIN score. I was given the SSB centre (interview place) as Bhopal. I along with my father booked the train tickets and reached Bhopal.

On the day of the interview, I was feeling a little stressed as it was my first time attending an SSB interview. The soldiers will inform you of how to do or proceed in every step. They will ask you to gather at the SSB gate entrance early morning in a formal dress. Never forget to dress properly. Comb your hair well and have your beard shaved on the day of the interview. This is going to be a five-day interview if you get selected in stage 1 which is screening.

I boarded the centre early and after all the verification, you will be given chest numbers to wear for identification. You will be shown the hall to attend the screening exam. After the OIR, PPT and group discussion, the qualified candidates’ chest numbers will be announced. I was a bit nervous and didn’t perform well in the group discussion. I was rejected during the first-day screening test during my first 2 attempts.

But during my third attempt, I was shortlisted again but this time my SSB centre was at Visakhapatnam. It is important to note that I was having my B.tech first semester exams at that time. Even then I attended the interview. They started announcing the chest numbers of the qualified candidates and my chest number was announced! It gave me immense happiness as I cleared the screening round. I was surprised and then understood that the group discussion in the screening round was a very crucial step.

Then you will be asked to submit your mobile phones after informing your parents about the selection.

After that, you will be given rooms and beds to stay. You will be provided with very good meals during your stay, never worry about it. They will take care of you as their children. For the next four days, you will be having your GTOs, personal interview and a conference on the final day. Every morning, you have to wake up early around 5 am and complete your daily essentials. You have to get ready for breakfast around 7:15 am. After having a good breakfast, you will be called for the GTO session, you will have some GTO tasks. You will enjoy the GTO tasks if you don’t consider them as a physical interview. The most important to remember is never to feel tense at any point in time. After that, you will be having your lunch. From afternoon till evening, you can have disciplined fun in the centre. You can play various games, a TV will be provided for you. I still remember the joy I had during the stay with my fellow candidates (my new friends over there). I remember watching a KGF movie with my friends during the 5-day stay. You must report around 9 pm after dinner and then go to bed.

After the conference on the last day, the qualified chest numbers were announced. My chest numbers were not announced. I didn’t feel discouraged at all, but moreover, I got a once in a life experience that I will remember throughout my life.
