Shortlisting for the online assessment based on CGPA and resume (200 shortlisted from around 1500);

Online Assessment (offline):

  • 20 Questions based on OOPS and DSA in Java (10 min for each 10q).
  • 2 basic level coding questions. (60 min, 20 mins are more than sufficient for both).
  • I was able to solve the coding problems within 10-12 minutes, and the Java portion was more of a hit or miss as I learnt dsa in cpp.
  • Out of 200, 48 were shortlisted for the group discussion round.

Group Discussion Round:

  • A batch of 12 students was divided into 2 teams of 6, and a topic was given.
  • Half the time we had to speak in favour of the topic and the rest half against the topic.
  • I came out on the top of my 12-student group, pretty confident after the round.
  • Out of 48, 12 were shortlisted for the first technical round.

Technical Round-1:

  • Basic round, first a brief discussion of my projects, then Sass and its advantages over normal CSS (as I had used it in one of my projects), and a few basic flexbox, CSS grid and responsiveness (media queries) questions.
  • Followed by a basic recursive problem (printing numbers from 1 to n using recursion).
  • Finally followed by questions in OOPS, like the 4 pillars, types of inheritance and the types of polymorphism, the difference b/w encapsulation and abstraction, and a few more.
  • I was asked to implement a class for a drone camera, following the concepts of inheritance.
  • So it was a pretty easy one for me, I delivered more than I was expected to, giving frequent real-life examples describing everything in detail, and answering all the questions that were asked. The interviewer was pretty sweet and seemed impressed from the round, she even commended my concept clarity at the end with a broad smile.
  • I was very confident after the round, especially after her feedback.
  • Out of 12, 6 were shortlisted for the next round.

Technical Round-2:

  • So this is where things get interesting (rather effed up), being a third-year student, till now I had just learnt front-end, html css javascript, and a bit of CSS and Bootstrap.
  • The round was meant to be a DSA or a technical round, but my interviewer was on some sort of drugs, he started asking me about MERN stack problems, API-related problems, software testing, REST APIs and JSON, CSV and XML files.
  • I mentioned to him that these are not in our scope as far as the curriculum is concerned, as I’m just in the fifth semester;
  • But it seemed like he just didn’t want me to proceed to the final HR Round, as the whole interview revolved around these concepts.
  • All the rest of the students were asked dsa / core concepts, but I guess hard luck for me here, kind of broke my heart too, but maybe god has something else written in his books for me.
  • Out of 6, 4 were shortlisted for the final HR Round.

HR Round:

  • Didnt get the chance to reach here (luck factor phew), but basic mostly asked hr questions were there.

Verdict: Not Selected
