Optym Interview Experience (On-Campus)

I recently had the opportunity to interview with Optym, and I wanted to share my experience with you!

The process began when Optym visited my campus (Tier-I) in early September for several job positions I opted for OR Scientist. I applied for a job through placement drive that included a written test and technical interview, both held online.

• Round 1 of the interview process had a written test with verbal, logical thinking, and aptitude questions.
  The test also included MCQs in Computer Networks, DBMS, OS, and DSA, as well as two coding questions.
  While one coding question was easy, the other was a graph problem of medium to high difficulty level.
  Despite the challenging coding question, the candidate was able to answer all MCQs, one SQL query, and one coding question due to their preparation and moved on to the next round.
• Round 2 of the interview process was a technical interview where the candidate’s projects and thesis topic took center stage.
  The interviewer asked about the real-world applications and pressing problems related to the candidate’s projects and inquired about their college courses.
  The candidate was asked to write the median for a data stream problem during the interview, which was a challenging task but tackled with confidence and clarity.
  Coding question:
  1. Given that integers are read from a data stream. Find the median of elements read so for in an efficient way
  2. Given two BSTs, return elements of both BSTs in sorted form

The results were declared the following day, and I was thrilled to be among the chosen few! Overall, my interview experience with Optym was challenging, yet rewarding. I learned a lot from the experience, and it has given me more confidence in my abilities as a computer scientist.

If you’re looking to interview with Optym or any other company, my advice is to be confident and articulate, even if you don’t know the answer. Be sure to describe your technological projects clearly, and make sure to prepare well beforehand. With the right mindset and preparation, you can tackle any challenge that comes your way
