It was the day I passed my 10th class exam, I was happy because finally it was over, “bye bye Social Studies was never a fan of you because I am a science guy” and so I took non-medical in 11th class. Little did I know that in these two years, I’d witness a journey that would become a gripping tale of perseverance and self-discovery. Allow me to take you through the highs and lows of my real-life saga, navigating through the stormy ocean of JEE preparation at VMC (Vidya Mandir Classes) I’ll try hard not to bore you. There are a total of three mistakes I made which I think will be with me through my whole life, will tell you along the way.

A LATE START

The first day of coaching was daunting because I was a late joiner and I had no idea how in the world I earned a good score on my entrance exam because I was in the third-best group (there were six, by the way). I found my old friend there actually sitting on the first seat, now I could get all the notes of the topics already done. The first error was arriving late at the institute; everyone in the room was on a higher level than me, as evidenced by the answers to questions I never imagined the exam could ask. But giving up was not an option; my friend was average, and if he could do it, so could I.

WHERE ARE MY DOUBT SOLVERS?

On the path to finding enlightenment, I often found myself drowning in the sea of doubts because they were never-ending. The doubt faculty was unfortunately not very reassuring, I hardly used to find my teacher in the faculty room. Only the physics teacher used to be in the room and I think because of him I developed an interest in physics and eventually became good at it. Nonetheless, you need more than that; you need instructors who wield the power of deduction like wizards.

CHEMISTRY PROBLEM AND MATHS MISHAPS: PHYSICS, MY ONLY SANCTUARY

Chemistry, the elusive potion of JEE, proved to be my worst enemy. Mathematics, too, decided to play hard to get. The only saving grace? Physics, and the only subject that was interesting to me. It turns out, that having a love affair with just one subject in the JEE triumvirate became my second mistake. Only one subject was not enough to secure a good rank in JEE, you should be proficient in all three to secure a rank worthy enough to get you in the top NITs (National Institute of Technology).

COVID-19: THE UNWANTED PARTY CRASHER

A year went by like a tracer bullet and I was pretty confident that this year I would be turning the tables with my good performance in both Chemistry and Mathematics(at least mathematics anyway). And just when I thought my life couldn’t get any more chaotic, COVID-19 barged in like an uninvited party crasher. The coaching institute and school turned online and anybody who is reading this knows what online classes do. No matter how hard I tried and couldn’t grasp much through it and it became my nemesis, my second year of preparation turned out to be nothing I expected. Who knew a pandemic could be such a mood spoiler for my JEE aspirations? This is where my third mistake was highlighted: not attending an accredited school. Attending a good school puts a student in the company of other students who are similarly serious about the exam and provides you with a reason to achieve well; sadly, I was missing that reason.

THE JEE MAIN SAGA

As the curtains fell on my JEE Main performance, the last act showed the outcome I had predicted: I had failed to crack the code. But don’t worry, my reader, because every story twist opens the door to a sequel. The true hero emerged in the aftermath of my JEE saga—resilience. Embracing the quirks, errors, and failures leads to a significant realization: Success isn’t always about cracking examinations; it’s about cracking the code of life. So, my fellow travellers, whether you’re in the JEE maze or on another journey, keep in mind that failure isn’t the end. Life’s chapters are numerous, and each one gives an opportunity to learn, grow, and eventually take the spotlight. After all, the most bizarre stories often have the most inspiring endings.
