JEE MAINS RANK: 11300(no coaching)

INTRODUCTION:

Being a villager, Honestly speaking I didn’t know any about JEE NEET, etc. till my 12th board. There are still many children like me who didn’t get that many opportunities because of living in backward villages. But there is a saying, Where there is will, there is a way. Firstly I searched about JEE on YouTube (our best friend):

To be eligible for the JEE Main exam, candidates must have passed their Class 12 examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. My board percentage was 93.3% so I was eligible. The JEE Main syllabus is based on the NCERT textbooks of Class 11 and Class 12. The syllabus includes topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Although, the JEE MAINS syllabus is not fixed, but the core concept remains the same.

MY PREPARATION:

I took a drop and prepared for 8 months(Self Study + YouTube) and cracked JEE MAINS on my first attempt! The Exam was held in CBT mode. To familiarize myself with the exam, I gave around 20 mock exams. I remember I scored 88 marks on my first mock test then gradually my marks started improving. The duration for Paper 1 is for 3 hours. So time management is really important, my advice would be just don’t get stuck on a single question. If you’re unsure, move on and come back to it later. The questions in JEE Main are of multiple-choice type (MCQs) and numerical value type questions. The Marking scheme is, for Correct answers in MCQs are awarded 4 marks, while incorrect answers result in a deduction of 1 mark. There are various slots for exams due to the high number of applications. In my slot the paper was moderate.

STRATEGY I FOLLOWED:

  • Study Schedule:

The study schedule is a must for jee preparation, I made a realistic and balanced study schedule with study slots starting from 7 in the morning till 12 after that I took some break and resumed my studies till 6 in the evening, try and make a schedule that fits with your timing that covers all subjects and topics that you plan for the day. Allocate more time to challenging topics and subjects you find difficult. I strictly followed NCERT made my notes(I still have them) and solved the JEE MAINS question bank.

  • Divide preparation into 2 Phases:

Break your preparation into phases. In the initial phase, I focused on building a strong foundation by covering the basics and fundamental concepts of math and physics and mugged up the reactions every day by sticking them on the walls and cupboards. In the second phase, revised each topic and practiced solving a variety of problems, I also preferred to give mock tests in this phase during weekends.

  • Practice questions:

Try and solve a wide range of practice problems and previous years’ question papers. Practicing is important for mastering the concepts and improving problem-solving skills. It helps in time management which is important during the actual exam where there is a time restriction. I used online resources and mock tests to create exam conditions and improve time management.

  • Revision:

I used to revise every weekend all the topics I covered during my weekdays. Regular revision not only helps in good retention but also boosts your confidence in that subject.

CONCLUSION:

I tried to maintain a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and engage in any physical activity as much as I could to keep my mind and body in good shape. Although there were a lot of rises and falls in my journey but tried to maintain a positive attitude and find a way to stay motivated throughout my preparation.
