The Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) is a crucial element for businesses registered under the Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime in India. It serves as a unique identifier and facilitates various tax-related activities. If you’re unsure about your GSTIN or need to verify the GSTIN of a business partner, you can easily do so using their PAN (Permanent Account Number).

Step 2: click on the “Search Taxpayer” tab located on the top menu bar

Step 3: Choose the “Search by PAN” option.

Step 4: Enter the “PAN Number and Captcha

Step 5: Click “Search

Step 7: Check Specific GSTIN Details – Click on the hyperlinked GSTIN number for more information. You’ll be redirected to the “Search by GSTIN” page with the GSTIN auto-filled. Enter the captcha code and click “Search” for detailed information like business name, address, and nature of business.

The search results will display details of all GSTIN registrations linked to the entered PAN. This includes the state code, entity type, and current registration status (active or inactive).

Key Points to Remember

  • Ensure you enter your PAN number accurately and avoid any typos.
  • If you have multiple GSTINs registered under your PAN, carefully select the one linked to the specific business you’re interested in.
  • This method only allows you to search for GSTINs already registered under your PAN. If you haven’t registered yet, you’ll need to visit the official GST portal for registration procedures.
