Answer: Different Network Topology offer different costs, security, reliability, etc. So we choose one of the network topology as a blueprint for setting up our network according to the features that we required.

By Network Topology we get to know how different nodes are connected in the network. There are different types of network topology like Bus, Star, and Ring Topology based on how nodes are connected. For example in Mesh Topology each node is connected with every other node, in star topology each node is connected to a Hub.

Now when we have to decide to set up any network then we have to consider multiple parameters:

  1. Cost– We have to make a network at a low cost or we can afford a high cost.
  2. Security– We need high security in our network or we can compromise with security.
  3. Maintenance– We need no or little maintenance of the network or we can provide good maintenance.
  4. Reliability– If one device stops working then we can access all other devices connected with it or not.

So if we have to set up any network that provides high security, high reliability and we can afford high cost with high maintenance then set up that network according to the Mesh Topology. Similarly, if we want any network that costs very less but security and reliability are not our concern then we can use Bus Topology.

Similarly, according to the different requirements of the network, we choose one of the available network topologies and set up our network according to that.
