Online MCQ Test on CodeSignal

The process began with an online MCQ test on the CodeSignal platform. It involved responding to 45 questions within 30 minutes that spanned topics such as computer networking, computer architecture, aptitude, Linux, Python, and the bootloading process. The time constraint heightened the challenge, emphasizing the need for not only knowledge but also swift decision-making.

The next day the shortlisted candidates were announced and we were told that we would be appearing for the interview rounds 2 days later. The first two were technical rounds and the last one was the managerial round which was basically another technical round. All rounds lasted for about 30 minutes but could be even longer.

First Technical Round

The interviewer went through my resume, digging into the challenges encountered in projects and the strategies used to troubleshoot them. Questions covered everything from the basics, like how entering “www.google.com” works in a web browser, to tackling problems when a domain doesn’t load. How tech giants like Amazon manage traffic influx during big sales fests and the “ping” command was also asked.

Second Technical Round

In this round, we dived deep into Linux commands, with a focus on my familiarity with tools like Netstat and ss. The interviewer also asked differences between virtualization and cloud computing, access and trunk ports, etc. He also asked me to explain the layers of the OSI model as well as potential issues that can occur at each layer.

Managerial Round

In the final round, I was asked questions on what component of a remote server responds to requests from a user’s server and sends a response back to the user. I was also asked what I was looking for as a fresher in a company.
