I have been working with Capgemini for over a year now. I was hired through an On-Campus placement and was in my third year of engineering at the final semester of my engineering Capgemini started the Internship program which at that time was called CAMP(Capgemini accelerated Mentorship program). Being from a Non-IT background I didn’t have much of knowledge in development but always had a keen interest to learn things with the Internship program I have learned a lot of things. This Internship is also training offered by Capgemini you will get the offer letter only after clearing this internship the domain allocation in this program is purely random but somehow I got the domain of my interest. The biggest drawback is that you cannot change the domain once allocated although you will get a chance to work on your favorite domain if you are lucky after joining the organization. It was a three months internship where we were trained on Java Full Stack with ReactJs it was a virtual internship we used to have a daily call from morning 9 to evening 6 with our mentor who is super supportive. They used to conduct tests on phases along with sprint projects and we had a final assessment at the end of training combing all the scores one should get above or equal to 60% after all of my hardware I cleared the internship and was also the topper of my training batch. The training period is amazing as you will have a lot to learn along with fun activities which makes it less difficult to adapt to the newly introduced corporate life.

Once my Internship got completed I have taken a break to complete my final semester exams after a month of completing my engineering I was onboarded with Capgemini. Soon after a week, I was tagged to the bench which eventually everyone would regret after being on the bench for 3 months I was lucky enough to get into the project most of my fellows are still on the bench they have been attending upskilling programs one after other which will hurt you to the core. I am currently working as a ReactJs developer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create modern and responsive layouts based on designs given by the team
  • Writing and maintaining unit tests for ensuring applications reliability
  • Develop new features, enhance existing features, and implement bug fixes for code
  • Work closely with the seniors to develop new features and meet the deadlines
  • Always have a learning appetite

Here I have suggested the pros and cons of working with Capgemini

Pros:

  • Lots of learning
  • Work-life balance
  • Supportive work environment
  • Job security
  • Free certifications
  • Free Training platforms(Udemy, Coursera, Pluralsight,degreed)
  • Automatic promotion after 18 months from Analyst to Senior Analyst

Cons:

  • Location constrain
  • Unreasonable deadlines
  • Long bench period
  • Insist to work on support projects
  • Initial pay is very low and hikes as well
