I recently went through the interview process for a backend developer role at Bhive Workspace. BHIVE Workspace is a PropTech company focused on commercial real estate. I applied for a Technical role in their company and went through their interview process, which consisted of a Job Applicant Questionnaire, a Technical Round, and a Final HR Round.

Here is a detailed overview of them.

Round 1: Job Applicant Questionnaire: The first round was a Job Applicant Questionnaire which contained questions like:

  1. Why do you want to work with a startup?
  2. What is your understanding and expectation of the role you applied for at BHIVE?
  3. Why do you think you are a good fit for this role
  4. What is your expected salary per annum in Lakhs?

The questionnaire was not very difficult and mainly aimed at understanding the candidate’s motivation and interest in the company.

Tips: For this round, candidates should be prepared to articulate their reasons for wanting to work with a startup and what specifically attracted them to Bhive. It’s important to do some research about the company and its values, mission, and vision before the interview to be able to answer this question effectively.

Round 2: Technical Round: The second round of the interview process was the technical round. During this round, I was asked a series of technical questions to gauge my knowledge and expertise in backend development like JavaScript, Node.js, SQL, Java, and OOPs. The questions were challenging but manageable, and I was able to answer them confidently.

Questions Asked:

  1. Tell me about projects
  2. Spread Operator
  3. Node.js HTTP Module
  4. What is REST API and its Working
  5. SQL HAS GROUPS BY
  6. Foreign Key Primary Key
  7. Memory Leak

Tips: It’s important, to be honest, and transparent about one’s skills and experience. It’s also important to have a good understanding of the concepts of JavaScript, SQL, and Node.js HTTP Module before the interview.

Round 3: HR Round: Following the Technical Round, I was invited for a Final HR Round where I had the opportunity to speak with the head of HR and discuss my career aspirations and goals. I felt that the Final HR Round didn’t give me much opportunity to showcase my skills or qualifications. Nevertheless, I remained positive and hopeful about the opportunity to work with Bhive Workspace.

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. About the company.
  3. Job Location

Tips: Candidates should also be prepared to answer all the questions. Know yourself before the +interview. Be calm & answer politely.
