Selection Process:

Comprises three rounds.

Round 1: Online Assessment

  • Test duration: 1 hr
  • Sections: 6
  • Content: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering topics such as Data Structures & Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs), Operating Systems (OS), Aptitude, Cognitive Ability, English Grammar, etc.

Note: Applicants should possess a solid understanding of DSA, OOPs, and OS.

Result: Out of 150 students, only 3 were selected for Round 2. Fortunately, I was one among them.

Round 2: Technical and Resume Discussion

Duration: 30 min

Round 2, conducted on Microsoft Teams with 2 interviewers, involved a mix of technical and resume discussions. The interviewer started by introducing himself and then asked me to introduce myself. We delved into questions about my second-year internship and the two projects mentioned on my resume, with a focus on a machine learning (ML) project. Despite my limited ML knowledge, I explained the project and my role.

A technical question related to string manipulation was posed , and I provided the optimal approach.

He inquired about my proficiency in Python and C++, to which I admitted knowing only the basics, emphasising my focus on Java coding skills and web development. He was understanding and proceeded to ask me to rate my Java proficiency, to which I responded with a 7-8 out of 10. He mentioned the importance of getting familiar with Python and ML for the internship. When asked about the company, I provided a well-prepared answer, leaving a positive impression on the interviewer, who seemed impressed.

Result: Among 3 students, only 2, including myself, were selected for Round 3.

Round 3: Senior-level Interview

Duration: 30 min

In this round of interviews, which was with a senior interviewer at the director level, he began by making me comfortable with a casual conversation. After introductions, he delved into questions about my resume. Subsequently, he inquired about the concepts of encapsulation and inheritance in OOPs, asking for explanations with examples, both of which I handled confidently. Expressing comfort in Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), he posed a tech question related to choosing the best data structure for a given condition, to which I provided an optimal solution, leaving a positive impression.

The interviewer then discussed the role of an intern at BD and inquired about my knowledge of the company, which I had prepared for. The feedback highlighted strong technical and theoretical skills but noted occasional anxiety when faced with various choices in selecting data structures.

Final Result: Both candidates, myself included, secured the selection.
