Hi all, Yardi Software India Private Limited, Pune visited our campus for SQL Developers in the month of December 2023, the whole recruitment process took only 4-5 days to complete. The first two rounds were in online mode while the other two were completed in offline mode. It was an insightful experience that gave me a deeper understanding of both the company and the role.

Round I (Aptitude Round ):

In this round, there are two sections available. Each section contains 20 MCQs for 30 minutes. 1st section contains quantitative & logical ability MCQs from Profit-loss, age, ratios, proportion, seating arrangements, directions, data sufficiency, syllogism, etc. The level of question is moderate. While 2nd section contains MCQs from DBMS, SQL queries, OOPs, etc.

Round II (Pre-HR interview ) :

This is an online interview with a human resources representative held on the Zoom meeting app. In this interview, the HR was asked the following question:

  • Tell me about yourself & family background.
  • What do you know about our company?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Are you willing to relocate/travel?
  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • Tell me about a team project you’ve worked on & your technical skills. They were keen to know about any SQL-related projects I had worked on.
  • What is your biggest achievement?

Round III ( Offline Technical Interview) :

This is a face-to-face interview with a software engineer. It was my 1st offline interview experience. I met the interview panel, and they were really friendly. They started by asking about my background, technical skills and why I was interested in the SQL Developer role. They seemed genuinely curious about how my skills could fit their needs

Following interview questions they were asked in this interview:

  • What is SQL & DBMS?
  • What are the different types of joins in SQL & explain with the help of a diagram?
  • They gave me 2 tables & asked me to write all join queries & their results on blank paper.
  • Write a query to replace all NULL values with 0 as the result of joining two tables.
  • How do you write a query to print a table in decreasing order of marks in student table statement?
  • What are triggers and stored procedures?
  • What is the GROUP BY & HAVING clause?
  • What are your experiences with other object-oriented programming languages and technologies?
  • Then they asked me about OOP paradigms, abstract classes, virtual keywords, inheritance & its type in detail,
  • They me about a team project you’ve worked on & what was my role in this project.

They asked me only one easy DSA-based question about string reversal.

Why are you interested in working at Yardi Software?

The interview got a bit more technical when asked lots of questions on real-life data, and SQL queries. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to answer some of SQL related questions. That is why I was not able to continue further interview process.

Round IV ( Final HR & Manager Round ) :

I was not selected for this round hence I am sharing the experience of other selected students for this round. This is an interview with a manager. You will be asked about your soft skills, such as your communication and teamwork skills. You may also be asked about your career goals and why you are interested in working at Yardi Software.

Although I was a bit anxious, the interview taught me a lot. I learned that being well-prepared pays off & incomplete knowledge of anything is not useful. Brushing up on SQL concepts and practising real-world problems before the interview made me feel more confident. Moreover, I realized that being honest about what I knew and admitting when I didn’t have an answer was perfectly fine. It showed my willingness to learn. This experience helped me to understand what companies like Yardi Software are looking for in a SQL Developer and highlighted areas I can improve upon. Whether I get the role or not, I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to continue growing as a SQL Developer.
